the other week i was heading into work along drakford drive, listening to "a perfect circle" in 3rd gear as i entered the thrawa drive roundabout, (didnt feel like i was going 80km-ish) i shifted to 2nd and blamo the 33 kicked right out and whipped back i stoped with the intercooler just clearing the gutter, only feet from the light pole, and with a steaming pile of shit in my pants. very lucky there was no damage to anyone or anything, glad the were no cars around at that particular moment, as my laps in concertrasion would have just added to the skyline stereotype as "hoons". . . . sexy hoons, but still hoons.

. . . . have a safe holiday seasion ladies and gents

AiF

I had 2 close calls in the last week , must be the silly season

I can't believe how many complete morons there are on the road lately. Yesterday I was at that little roundabout in Phillip, and this wanker in a Magna sat there even though there was millions of times he could have gone... eventually there was me and about 20 cars waiting behind him... and then he FINALLY goes - straight into the way of an oncoming motorbike!!! wtf?? The guy on the bike had to stop, and then physically make his way around the front of the Magna which was sitting in the middle of the roundabout.

This especially makes me mad as my brother was hit in exactly the same situation a couple of months ago and now has metal rods in his leg from a broken shin. Not to mention being on crutches and unable to work for months.

f**king idiots

toasting in this bread... even if it's four years later.

The other night, my gf was driving me home from chirssy shopping when a P-Plater in a four door, poorly maintained prancer tried to race her off. 2.5L liberty will smash a 1.5L prancer full of wankers, so we didn't even bother acknowledging them.

We turned onto Miranda Drive in Baulkham Hills, and get tailgated by some other subi with HID's blaring at us.

Next thing we know, the prancer driver undertakes the tailgaiting subi, then goes for round two and attempts to overtake my gf. Around a blind corner. In a residential area.

We saw the parked car he was heading straight towards so my gf hit the breaks and moved into the on-coming traffics lane (luckily noone was approaching) so this flop didn't hit the parked car.

(It doesn't sound like there was much forward thinking involved, but because it happened so fast we looked, saw him coming, and were like "wtf is he doing"... then we noticed the parked car and it was a bit of a rush situation to give him room).

We get to the next set of lights, and the driver flips us the bird. We're like "wtf we just stopped you killing yourself..", then some trashy lass sticks her body out of the passenger window and starts yelling abuse.

You'd have to see the driver, car and passengers to understand how poor of an image this guy gives us jap boys/girls.

Near miss for me just the other day which cost me :(

Was driving home on william slim from Chrissy chopping in belco and was approaching the big roundabout at the Barton hwy. some twat decides he doesn't want to go straight anymore and jumps into the right lane to turn right. Only problem being thats where I was. I swerved not to get hit and found the only gutter near the place. Busted tyre and buckled rim :( so wish I couldve caught him and shown him some christmas spirit but my car could barely limp home :(

Even though I'm a southsider, PM me vehicle details if you have them ;)

f**king balls man, balls. That's really shit :(

One day I was driving home along sulwood drive, near one of the T intersections. This woman in an old falcon (I think) comes up to the intersection stops her car and spots me coming along. So obviously it seemed like she was giving way. except when there was a few meters distance between us she decides to pull out, this all happened in seconds and my reaction to the brakes was pretty quick. My foot was flat down and my car actually wouldn't stop fast enough and considering the islands around I couldn't move over. Luckily she did get across just in time for me to have a little room to move to the left without hitting the island or destroying her rear.

Ever since then I always pay attention to stupid looking people giving way to me

Depending on the car I was in, would totally have been worth hitting her and teaching her a lesson....not in the skyrine though haha

thats exactly what I thought. If I had some cheap crap car I'd be totally up for it. Hopefully I'd be ok though.

Had some person try and T bone me through a roundabout once, after giving way I went through a gap and some idiot decided to floor it and honk at me. Now if I had a crappy car then that could have been a good opportunity to teach someone about fuel consumption and road accidents

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
