Any One Changed Their Idle Control Valve Rb26dett

Hi chaps, is it possible to replace without removing the plenum, havn't had a chance to have a look and wont see the car before the weekend now and kinda need to know if I'm going to do it or not depending on plenum removal...

Should be able to , have not done it myself. it`s only got 4 bolts with a mirror should be able to find them , disconnecting the air hose will be the hard bit

Yeah AAC is no problem, I just really don't want to take the damn plenum off again!

I think that one is actually a "cold start air" valve. Why do you want / need to remove it? I don't think they are at all serviceable.

Ongoing problem with high idle, it's the only thing left, a few other people with the same problem have had sucess changing it.

That valve would be a bastard to change in the car. We had one of those 2 hoses off the other day and it took 1/2hr of swearing 2 people to do. You will have to pull of heaps of stuff to get it out

Even fiddling with certain vacuum lines on GT-Rs is almost an engine-out job

Well wish me luck, I'm going to attempt it without removing anything first, and if needs be take the damn plenum off, arghhhhh!

You didn't clean out the throttle bodies, did you?

ouch I hope thats not it. I haven't seen a solution to "I cleaned the throttle bodies" except getting new ones

From what i remember there is a coating on the throttle bodies so they seal correctly, cleaner removes it.

yeah exactly - once youve given the throttles a good clean they will leak was just looking in the manual to see what the "coating" is but it doesn't say. Anyway....don't clean them!

I think there is a solution. You need to run RICH for a while, and somehow it builds up a coating of carbon around the throttle butterflies.

No I didn't clean the throttle bodies, I think you are right about running rich for a while, should sort it.

Still havn't attempted it yet, been too cold and raining and christmas!

I have just had the plenium out. What a bitch to get out, getting in wasn't as bad. If you want to get to the ACC i suggest taking plenium out.

There is the least amount of room on the 32 compared to the 33 and 34.

I know about the plenum, did it twice, as the first time it didn't seal properley I was using the cometic gaskets, I'd strongly suggest using some loctite copper gasket sealant, if you want to know the exact product I can have a look tomorrow.

Havn't bothered with the idle valve yet, got some other stuff to do so I'm just going to leave it to last.
