dori34
dont the coby extractors need a flange welded on the cat side of the headers? i should be getting mine within 2 months so ill let you know how it goes. gonna use heat wrap instead coz hpc is expensive like everyone has said ... Eug
yes the headers will need a flange welded on, as will any aftermarket cat you buy - takes all of 5 minutes. entirely dependent on the brand and design. some cats are shorter and might require some extra piping. dori34
yeah ive seen metal cat etc without flanges but xforce has flanges.. how much roughly would a exhaust place charge to get a flange welded onto the headers ? GTS4WD
oh and have you got the flange welded yet? or did you wrap them first then get it welded later? Im in a pickle.. I cant take the car to an exhaust shop during the week because i cant get to work.. by the time I finish work.. its too late to go to the exhaust shop.. and only the dodgy places are open weekends.. the thermal wrapping is markedly cheaper than HPC!! upload some pictures for the rest of us guys.cheers eug I gotta get off my lazy arse and do that too.. Im in the process of putting in my bucket seat today.. so I may just upload a pic today Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/198936-headers-thread/page/2/#findComment-3560180 Share on other sites

Eug
deliveries after xmas/new years may take a while. sorry, it was either going to be an early delivery right on christmas or late well into the new year - we had the same issue with delivery times last group buy. give it till the end of this week and we'll see what we can do about chasing it up. got to hate australia post. Eug
yes you will need a flange. you may need to extend the extractors depending on the design of your cat, alternatively extend your cat. R33 Ribby
hey guys got my extractors fitted today just left the whole exhaust system stock dont know if thats a good idea. wanting to know what type of exhaust setup you guys are running mine has this crappy raspy noise in it. it has dulled out abit by the extracors but still not 100% happy. didnt heat wrap them and all the black pain on them smoked and burnt off lol. cheers of the group buy eug and what is your exhaust setup? Eug
yeah the paint isn't a high temp paint - it's purely for rust proofing and aesthetics. i run a 2.5" outlet, with 2.5" metal cat (with an extra pipe welded on) as my cat was quite short, followed by a stock R33 GTR exhaust. does the job, bit louder than stock - not too loud. mine also has the rasp. might need to repack the fiberglass or put in some resonators. i'm not overly fussed, as long as the car performs. Eug
Cheers for the info eug always helpful. you say that you race your car on the track? what class do you race in and what performance upgrades have you done to your engine if any? no worries. i just do timeattacks and motorkhanas, there's no particular class. you pay, you come you race, you get a timesheet, you compare and you go home. we have a points system implemented this year for a bit of friendly competition. engine wise: i've got extractors, cat, catback exhaust, tuned SAFC2 and that's pretty much it. suspension & brake wise: pretty much done to death, camber, castor, hicas, bilsteins/whiteline shock/springs, swaybars, slotted rotors, braided lines, upgraded calipers, master cylinder stopper, front & rear strut braces, etc. has anyone had problems with the welds bein in the way when u go to put the bolts back on? and also on the r34 cause the extractors come out more there is some plastic intake parts now touchin them n will prob melt or whateva anyone got any ideas how to fix this? i was thinkin maybe take all the stock plastic/rubber intake parts out until the TB and replace with a metal pipe? i had no dramas with the bolts, you should be replacing the bolts when doing a manifold/extractor change as they deteriorate over time. i.e. snap. try some washers/spacers to clear the welds if you have an overly large bolt nut. some intake systems have an emissions box integrated (not all of them had it). a metal pipe is a good upgrade anyway. inthisglass
i heard that if you get the metal intake pipe and dont have the box thing that you actually loose power/responsiveness? something about the box holding air? if not then im definitely getting a metal intake pipe. still waiting on mine but they do have to travel a lot further... hopefully soon! oh and can you buy the exhaust studs at a nissan dealer? or do you have to order them? just incase mine snap..
