boots from repco which cost $13.50 each. The part number is RRB033.

Depending on brand; My Castor rod bushes (superpro) cost $100~

$27 + $100~ = $140~ for parts

$360 for labour? im guessing wheel alignment done; $60~

So about $300 for labour?

I got camber, castor, steering rack bushes, subframe bushes & steering rack replaced for $300 labour..

hope that helps :D

Thanks Rekin

with the steering rack boots part number, are they for R32? or universal? how they fit to the car? cause one of the member on that thread said it not a very good fit???

also, where can i get that Castor rod bushes (superpro)?

cheers

Im pretty sure the DIY is for a R32, they are the boots i bought for my R32, so there will be no problem for you.

Im not aware of how well they fit, got my suspension place to fit both steering rack boots for $30 labour. He didnt seem to mention any problems..

SuperPro is an australian bush company (http://superpro.com.au)

I got my Suspension workshop to supply and fit, but im pretty sure Supercheap Auto sell them.

I paid $50 each for genuine Nissan boots as I cbf screwing around with non-genuine generic items that need trimming etc.

Fitment was easy but took a while and setting the toe back by eye (counting threads).. was pretty close.. only 0.1mm out :D

I got my castor bushes through Brad at WA Suspensions and IIRC they were only ~$80, fitment and an alignment was nowhere near $500 either.

ok guys.. with the caster rod bushes .. should i get the after market (adjustable) caster rod and change the whole thing? or just changing the bushes? it an everyday car (never see track or drift)

also, I've got few quotes:

Pedders (local area): $450.00

- rubber boots $40 pair

- caster rod bushes $100 pair

- labour $220

- 4 wheels alignment $90

Luis drift Garage: total $340.00

- rubber boots $60 supplied and fitted

- KKR caster rod (adjsutable) $280 supplied and fitted

- then I have to do the wheels alignment else where

- gonna take me like 1.5 hours drive from my place to his

what u guys reckon?

cheers

hey ive got a cracked castor rod bush on my 32 and i just bought some adjustable castor rods from ISC Performance..there a trader on here..got em for like $180...im Getting new tyres soon so when they fit the tyres i'll get em to put the castor rods on too and get a wheel alignment

bugger if you were in vic i could help you out maybe someone from NSW can point you in the right direction.

its a pretty easy job if you wanna do it your self, theres plenty of "how to's" on these forums.

the difficult part would be getting the old bushes pushed out as u need a 10 ton press most suspension shops can do it though.

Luis drift Garage price is okay but 1.5h is a fair trek and you will still need an alignment, i dont see how they can work with suspension and not be able to do alignment.....

and pedders just suck.

  • 1 year later...

ive got a r33 gts-t series 2 and am changing over the steering boots. My original boots had 48059 marked on them. Not sure if this is correct as they were quite difficult to get off (i had to cut them off in the end) After reading on here i decided to get the universal boot, rrb 000

i have put the 2 boots together. as you can see the end diameter will not fit over the steering rack. i could cut the last few rings off which could work or is there a better option ??

You're supposed to cut them.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
