id suggest 17s but if you want the looks thats a different story, do you want them brand new or second hand?

coz theres always ppl selling cheap 2nd hand rim on the forum and you mite get lucky.

for brand new, im guessing ozzy tyres just around the corner, and id also suggest go to your local tyre shop too, ie bridgestone, Bob Jane..

and may i also suggest that minimal 30 offset 8 -9inch all round :P

What rims do you want?

If you want good quality Jap rims, there are a multitude of shops out there (some of whom are sponsors on SAU) that you should consider going to.

If you want showy rims, isn't Ozzy Tyres relatively close to your place?

If you don't mind second hand, just check the classifieds on here. You'll be relatively assured that the rims will fit your car at least.

Tempe tyres sell HEAPS of different types of "showy" tyres. Most of it is cheap and nasty though. You get what you pay for, but Tempe is very cheap if you talk them down a bit.

I would recommend NOT going to local tyre shops, because they will tear you to shreds on pricing. A large majority of their stuff (not name braded) is Tempe quality at 50% higher price.

Definately look up one of the traders who source rims from Jap.

Prices are quite decent and you get a good quality wheel, most times you will score a decent set of tyres as well.

But if you're after the showy wheel and not too fussed with quality/functionality then agree, Ozzy and Tempe are the go.

No one has said it so i will, TEMPE BRO!

No seriously check out some of the for sale items

Look for something with the following specs

8.5" wide 18" Size + 32 to +36 OFFSET

9.5" wide 18" Size +36 to +34 OFFSET..

If you can get this combo will look nice. Jap rims are way lighter but frigen expensive.. enjoy

Width makes it look mean from behind, but for skyline specs the rears can only handle 10" wide wheels, the bigger you go the thinner the width generally has to be unless you like looking like a 4WD (im talking about a offroad 4WD not a GTR)

18" is good looks VRS performance, Aust wheels are heavy as they are not forged. Jap rims are often forged but come with a nice price tag. Please dont get to much bling bling.

Offset is how far the wheel will sit out from the wheel hub, for right on the guard your looking at about the specs I entered above. a offset of about +30 on your 9" rim will sit outside the guard. Search forums for more info

Goto google and type in Offset calc and it will show you a website which you can calculate your correct offset but like I said .. its above.. And you can also search this forum to find out what others have on their rides.

I would advise the rims above, heres a link

They are cheap .. I dont even know the guy either gezz im nice.

I'd say 17's are best for ride comfort, but they can look really tiny in the rear guards especially on R33's, 18's are the best compromise of looks and ride comfort.

19's are shocking to drive on NSW roads, but if you're after looks I guess you can put up with a bit of discomfort, that's probably why women put up with high heels after all.

You COULD buy the trash they have at Tempe or Ozzy tyres, lot of mates bought from there and never had problems with their wheels.

But I could only put Japanese made wheels on my cars, I'd rather have stock wheels than Bob Jane/Ozzy wheels.

Maybe I'm just picky?

Each to their own as they say, but in my opinion, you spend a bit of money to get a quality car, why ruin it with cheapO rims that every 2nd civic or lancer will have in a 4 stud pattern? same goes for tyres too.

yeah thats a point.. if you're at all interested in the handling of your car, dont skimp on tyres. whatever you do dont buy nankangs! :P

theres heaps of threads on here discussing opinions on tyres. generally, you get what you pay for.

You can find some great deals on Yahoo Japan. The wheels are not that expensive.

I was looking for around a month or so for my V35 and in the end got

Rays SF Challenge

F 19x8.5

R 19x9.5

With virtually brand new Michellin Pilot PS2's delivered to Sydney for $3000. Second hand, but can bareley notice a mark on them. The tyres alone would be over $1.5k here

Hey,

Sorry for late reply have been away for a while. I am looking for these

KSpeed Burnout

Colour - Black/Machined Face

Available in:

17X7.0

18X7.5

i think they would look decent on a white

R33 S2. Anyone know where my best bet

for them are?

They are fairly thin - 7.5inches. If you're putting 18 inch wheels on there you might as well increase the width by an inch above standard so you can fit a wider tyre and increase your contact patch on the road. One inch wider than stock is still 'legal' from memory (if you care!).

Width and offset of these would look horrible IMO. 18x7.5 is very narrow.

Mine are 18x9.5 with 265 rubber on the rear. 18x9 on the front. These just fill out the rear guards nicely. If you go with 18x7.5 expect the rear of the car to look anemic.

...but don't get the same rims as me. Everyone will give you crap about it if you do. I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy these, these days. (Where's Marss when you need him?)

    • Did you panel beat the dents or have you tried to repair this only using filler?  Is your sanding block soft/flexible and is following the shape of the panel rather then just knocking down the high points?
    • I haven't knocked them down yet. I think I made the repair more complex than it should have been. I had rock chips combined with waviness and dents and I tackled it all in one because it was near each other and just end up wasting a bunch of bog lol. I'll knock down those areas and see how I go. And yep what you are saying at the end is correct. I think I might be sanding the top of a steep hill then my sanding block falls into the dent and gets rid of the guidecoat if that makes sense. Though shouldnt unless I'm covering too big of an area with not a long enough block. I'll try something new and provide some updates. Getting there though! Thanks as always.
    • Yeah makes sense, hard to comment on your situation without seeing what your doing. I was talking generally before, I would not be looking to randomly create low spots with a hammer to then have to fill them.  It's hard without seeing what your doing, it sounds like you are using the guide coat to identify low spots, as you're saying the panel is still wavy. I don't see how you're not ending up with patches of guide coat remaining in a wavy panel? Once the high spots are knocked down to the correct level, surely to have a wavy panel you need low spots. And those low spots would have guide coat still in them?
    • So I'll put filler past the repair area a bit to make sure I don't miss anything. Then I'll block it until it's almost level, put the guidecoat, then keep blocking until it's gone. Then it's still wavy.  In regards to hitting the panel, I saw this video might give more context - Skip to 0:47 he knocks it down. But yeah I'm sanding until the guidecoat is gone then checking because otherwise my filler is still well above the bodyline. Unless what you're saying is I should put guidecoat around it early, surrounding the filler then stip once it's gone?
    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
