Gday all, Got the rocket back from painters and looks mint. Just chasing a bit of info regarding wheel sizes. The DR currently runs 17x9 sparcos, however i am trying to find some wheels a bit more suited to the age of the vehicle - watanabe copies or similar. What i need to know is do any of you r30 owners have dished wheels that still clear the guards, and if so could you please tell me the sizes and offsets? I dont want to buy the rims i think will clear, and not be able to use them.

Cheers.

Sport Max do these nice watanabe/panasport copies. Come in 16 inches, not sure on offsets or width.

Mate Ghostrider has a legit point, I had 355atw in my DR and it was an absolute monster to drive on boost, lotsa fun yes but not a lot of traction unless u eased it on, with 600+ forget it, too light and RWD only.

Well lucky its my car then and i can run whatever power i like hey. I am setting it up for a couple of glory runs down the strip then changing turbo and tuning for hillclimbing which is what it will be eventually used for. Rest assured i have had plenty of hi-po engines in my time and am under no illusions as to traction availability on the street. It seems to me that this forum is primarily for bagging other peoples rides and opinions instead of providing positive comments and feedback..........

If you believe that my engine produces too much power, thats great. I guess thats the reason that i bought this car and not you.

Check out the 17x9.5's in here. bout 1/2 way down.

Their called ROTA RB's.

Cheers mate, i checked them out once before but they dont do them in the offset i need. i am running drifteks at the moment and will probably stick with them for a while.

Thanks anyway

Yeah your car makes too much power :)

Give some to me!!!

I missed out on buying your car when it was here in Perth but baulked and brought in my own stocker.

Wish I'd bought it now as I'm up to the price he was asking spent on mine and it's not even licensed yet (maybe today ...fingers crossed)

Yep love your car

Never met a horsepower I didn't like

Yeah your car makes too much power

Cheers mate, someone talking some sense at last!!!! Yeah the cost of building from scratch sure adds up, but even though mine was semi-built when i bought it, i am still spending tons on it to get it to where it should be. I think that once you get to 20-30k, stop counting!! Look on the bright side though, you could be spending the same amount on a Hyundai..............

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
