Does anyone know the pipe diametre of the Tomei dumps where they connect to the front pipe? And the distance between the bolt holes (centre to centre). I need to know if it will fit up to my aftermarket Do-Luck exhaust i have waiting at home for my turbo swap.

ummm merli. unless you are attaching them to the air purifier in your M3 then I think you have some splaining to do.... :D

confess me your sin brother.

Quick!!! Delete delete delete!!!

<waves hand in front of BB's face>

Merli: M3's need dump pipes too...

BB: :D:):O .............................. Hey mate.. Have you ever thought about buying some dump pipes for your car?

Merli: Yes young padwan....

I have Tomei dumps also.

I used those Trust long front/dump combo pipes before and wont do that again.

HKS are good looking dumps too.

i curious to know why wont use the trust pipes again?

personally i'd rather the trust pipes compared to the hks however.. if i had my way i'd prolly go tomei's but than again i dunno.. wat size are the tomei pipes?

your jedi tricks are powerless on me andrew. I can smell that empty space in your wallet a mile away. good to see you back in a cheap yet stupidly expensive car. :D

syslink, don't know if it was me that said that, but yes it is true. keeping the heat in the pipe does fatigue it. but it's good for performance in a few ways. it can be bad on mild steel especially as the wrap can retain moisture and cause the pipe underneath the rust out. as for whether or not it's a good idea, it's a 50/50 call. I have done it before though. ceramic coating is better but costs more.

the tomei pipes are far bigger than the HKS ones. the HKS outlet it only around 60-65mm the tomei one is 75mm maybe even a touch bigger. the HKS ones are also not finished very nicely inside. the tomei ones are finished very well.

the trust ones are good, but again, not finished all that well inside. plus they are very heavy, and hard to fit, and expensive. I think that is why sewid went tomei this time.

hey thanks for info just picked up a set of tomei for $800NZ, how much are these pipes worth in australia, over in nz they are between $850-$1000NZ......(new)

That's about right.

What's that?........................ about.................... AUD$3.30?

I put trust pipes on mine. Mine were very well finished off inside, but I got them modified so I could bolt the turbo support on to them like the factory ones. And I had the engine out of the car (and they were still a pain to fit), but I recon they're great.

The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
    • I'd say it's a fair bet that the feed and return fluid lines will be in different enough spots that you would need to come up with a way to cut the originals short and adapt with new hard line adaption or braided teflon hoses or somesuch. But really, you have the car, you have the photos of the DMAX rack - you should be able to go out there and see for yourself whether they're in the same or different spots.
    • I've been doing some looking around and honestly was just considering throwing a new rack at it. I saw that the dmax silvia rack bolts up into the 33 with the silvia bushings but not sure if the high pressure lines will sit in the correct spot. I believe other version of the 33 rack are the same/similar to the racks that can be opened up without as much fuss so I assume the dmax rack would fit but any ideas?
    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
