How Do I Dial Out Of Aus And Into Japan...?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Im dealing with an import broker in Japan and he has given me a mobile number, but i have NO idea how to actually reach him on it.

Im calling from an Optus mobile in australia, to his japanese carrier mobile in japan.

Gimme some PREFIXES!!!!

THanks guys!

Robbie

Thanks josh - been told ive got to dial 0011 first to dial out of australia.

Nice stagea by the way - im trying to import an Autech 260RS, hence the need for the number!

cheers, i've only just got it a week ago. 260Rs sounds awesome, waiting for it to get here will be a killer though, lol.

and yeah from a land line you would have to dial 0011 81, but from the mobile +81 should be ok. i ring someone in the uk a bit and never use 0011, just +44.

I've also heard that you have to drop the first zero on the number, so if the mobile number you were given is 090 ........ then dial all the numbers you need to get out of Australia then 90 ..........

yep correct. same for almost all countries. ie, if calling australia from japan (or anywhere) it's the same story.

what about calling from a Japanese mobile to Australian mobile?

i'm heading to Japan soon using international roaming, and if my friends over there want to contact me, do they go +61 XXXX XXX XXX? was there somthing about dropping the zero (NDD Prefix)

They would dial (I'll use a random mob no.)+61418664854 Your international roaming will then redirect the call to your phone on whatever roaming network you are on. Please bear in mind that you will be paying for the call as well when receiving on international roming.

The zero is there to let the phone network know that there is no pre-trailing area or country code to be added (as in Aus we dial area codes 02, 03, 07 etc) but when dialling a land line from overseas the 0 in the area code gets dropped eg STD dialling code followed by, 61 then area code eg 2 then phone no. XXXXXXXX. 0011 in Aus is to be used when dialling internationally from a land line. The + symbol on a mobile phone does this automatically.

Hope this makes sense :P

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
