Looking at upgrading the turbos on my RB26

The 3 that im currently looking at are the HKS 2530, HKS GT-RS, Trust T517z and Trust T618z

Just wondering if anyone could help me choose between the 4 of them!

Im after MAX. power possible without loosing too much response

Orginally i was going to use a T04z but had decided to use "bolt on" upgrades to stay as stealth as possible

Cheers

James

thats 4 turbos.. so u want max power with good response??? last time i seen a T517Z dyno was a few weeks ago.. 350awkw @ 1.5BAR... with.. and i hate to say this, better response than the HKS 2530 :ninja:

Im a big HKS fan.. and i dont really like Trust much.. but.. theyre small bolt ons seem to eclipse the hks variety every time :(

I like both HKS and TRUST

STAY AWAY FROM T618Z they are for 280 degree cammed monsters, ive used them and they are not street friendly. (think 2540 but bigger)

Go T517Z 8cm's or GT2530's.... i prefer the T517z's over GT-RS as they are a bit too laggy.

we used T517z's on the below engine (totaly std int) to make 312rwkw at 15psi and 350 at 18psi. if you prefer the 10cm versions then you are in GT-RS lag city but will easily crack over 400awkw

618's are the biggest bolt on from memory, 450rwkw+

Seriously though, all the questions your asking have been debated over and over again.

You really need to read the info and workout what you want.

People can only re-post findings so many times...

i would be going the 2530's, check out what other people have made http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...yno-t93880.html .and make a decision based on that mate.

I was wanting to use GT-RS turbines on my GT-R, but it seems there isnt much of a following for these. As i was told they were designed specificly for the RB26 to good response and mox power!

now can some one tell me a turbo that will make 400rwkw's with the same type of response as these and are cheaper at all!!! if i can get these for $3,500 im not paying a cent more for anything inferior to these!

9krpm : what were the response of the T517z like on your car? was your car the black GTR that was giving that white exa a run(from what the exa owner says) from Victor Harbor to Yankalilla?

what about the HKS GT-SS?? how do they match up to some of these other turbos?

    • No. The castings are all the same. As you have the inlet off, simply measure the diameter of the inlet ports and compare with the freely available on the net sizes of turbo and NA. The NA ones are small.
    • Hello everyone, I'm glad to join you.
    • Definitely do-able haha. I will give it a try if the fuel pump hanger does not solve the issue. Just need to find some quiet time in the area, Malta is like a big city and I live right next to the main hospital so it is very busy during the day. I'll be installing it in about 2 weeks, found a garage that is pretty knowledgeable and has the necessary tools. This garage has worked on multiple builds, even for competitions. They even asked me to stay with, so I should be fine.
    • Just to add, I found the r32 gtr ecu the most forgiving, the r33 one would get the shits.
    • For what it’s worth I drove my gtr for over a decade with gt-ss as a true daily after I pulled off the -5s, I had it engineered and went with stock ecu etc.  never skipped a beat.    I would only worry if you can’t get good fuel all the time in a tropical paradise
