yeah the gas struts will lift the door but try pulling the door down when you are sitting in the car, i had scissor doors but have taken them out cause of legal reasons, but might put them back on one day

i bought a bolt on kit, was not bolt on at all.

Hi Guys it`s Terry the owner of lambodoorkits Ltd. Just thought I`d pop in and dispell some myths about the lambo doors. I have them fitted to our company show car R33 GTST Skyline. We use this car everyday, so know what it is like living with them. We searched long and hard to find an affordable kit, which was strong and easy to fit, as well as easy to live with. We found many kits that were inferior and had no bearings fitted to them and the shocks were very weak. The kit we settled for, as you see on the web site is the one we have now. The kit is a direct bolt on fitment and is made in Taiwan, not China where all the poor quality kits come from. To fit the kit, the door needs to be taped shut and a piece of carboard used under the door to keep the gap at the bottom. The wings then need removing and the old hinges removing. The new hinges just bolt straight on in the original holes. At this point you can release the tape off the door. The door then needs operating a few times and adjust with the allen key screws until your happy with the door shutting like factory. The inside of the wing needs a small half moon shape cutting out to allow for the extra width of the hinge. This operation has to be done with any Hinge on the market. That`s it, fit the wing and it`s done. The kit will need adjusting eventually, ours has been twice in 3 years. Not bad I think. The shocks are still original after 3 years although starting to get weak now. These can be easily replaced wih our 650lb upgrade. The doors when up in the air do wobble in high wind, but this is the same with LSD kits. This is inevitable with a large piece of metal in the air anchored to the thin piece of metal which is the door panel. We just don`t open them in high wind and you can get out normally anyway without lifting them up. This should also help if you get stoped by the local fun police, by getting out the car normally. I know and anyone with common sense knows that this type of modification is a love it or hate it Modification and we should respect their views on this. personally I love it. The looks we get at shows and during normal out and about shopping etc is great. They aren`t looks of disgust either, they are looks of Awe! Not very often you see Skylines with lambo doors.

Think I have gone on enough, feel free to ask questions.

What is the cost of the 650lb shocks and do you have any close up pics of the kit fitted

The cost of the Uprated shocks is £95 a set, I.E 2 shocks.

Quite a good close up on our install guide section on the website.

How far will they open out before going up and whats the cost sent to Adelaide

Il sign up to the site another nite and look at the pics :(

They open out to 21 inches from the B-pillar to the bottom left corner of the door panel.

Cost of the Lambo doors to Adelaide is £450 + £40 delivery. 7-10 days delivery time.

i might organize a group buy from terry if he offers a good price or another vendor that I have got in touch with "depending on the quality of his kits and price".

i personlay think they doors that go up and out even if just a lil are much nicer than just up.

We can go down to £400 plus £40 delivery for a group buy. They are available for R32, R33, R34 GTR and GTST all models.

£385 + £40 delivery for 10 or more kits.

That would be good if you can get agood price il be down for it and yes the doors are alot better if they go out then up.

By the way chaps, we will be having some bespoke Carbon fibre parts made soon if your interested. Starting with the gear surround for the R33 GTST. These are made out of real carbon fibre grade a not usually rubbish.

I'm interested, but probably cant afford it just yet :-(. Damn apprentiship... But when I can, I'm definately interested. You guys who do buy them though, let us know how they go.

Terry, talk to a administrator about becoming a trader. Might get more sales.

People, check with your insurers first. I was going to get these for my MR2 but Just Car said they dont cover scissor doors or carbon bonnets for that matter.

I do like them but just didnt get them because of this reason. Id say youd have worse luck with the likes of NRMA or AAMI covering these aswell.

Also make sure your passanger is fully aware of the scissor doors as the brackets can bend if pulled open too far, ive been there before, LOL

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
