i got one faxed through mid week and my licence turned up friday anyway. best to be on the safe side thoe.

i would be going to this for sure if DA haddent decided to hold its first round at symmons. aparently they are still very short on officals. having two 2 day events on at both race tracks on the one weekend is crazy.

Blame MST for that :D

Looking forward to this, the EH will be out there with the new brake set up and fixed gearbox :(

I only got to shoot out on Saturday, but there was plenty of action in Group A with Andy Lawson near ripping the rear end of his 200SXR due to the massive performance that car is producing, nothing the NW boys and a welder couldn't fix though. Bill Fulton's GTSt was belting out early 58 second laps while still getting the hang of his sequential g'box and playing with suspension set up.

In Group B it was all about Leigh Finnlayson with his Benson Motorsports supported Evo 6.5, at times getting amongst the Group A action! Next Briggsie doing very well in another Benson Motorsports supported car with Rosco in toe. Mark qualified in 17th (64sec lap) thanks to a dodgy tyre gauge. Getting pressures up for race one he actually started from grid position 26 thanks to the field being released before all cars were girded up, but battled his way to 16th on just 8psi of boost, then in race 2 upped the boost to normal and got to 9th outright and 4th in Groub B... massive waiting produced a disappointing day and more action would have followed today.

As we left the Icon Autoworkz sports sedan was cleaned up on the start grid by an Improved Production Escort, the damage to both cars was massive as the Icon car was suck in neutral and not moving.

just been on the phone and Kerry Luck came 2nd outright for targa B and wone the 10 lapper. seems the little bit of fine tuning over the off season has helped.

i was also told poor mr brigs poped a motor? very bad luck after all the work he has done in the off season.

update for myself was i qualified 9th out of 16 drift drivers after a spin on one qualifing lap. i was very happy as the field was half mainland drivers and and 90% of the other drivers have had plenty of experiance.

i learnt very quickly the quality of tyres as i spun on my first battel ever because of super slipery tyres.

over all was a top weekend for me.

well it seems at this pont we havent popped the motor but one of the seals in the turbo as gone ( stu's looking into that for us) as there was oil dripping out the exhaust pipe. car is still running fine, although sounds gurlgly (you would too after eating oil!!) its not blowing smoke on idle, only when you you open the throttle. we also had oil all over the engine as we seem to be blowing to much oil into the oil catch. using castrol edge, might go back to the motul. i started driving home, but i was leaving a 100 metre smoke screen so called for a tow.

it was another up and down weekend. i damged drivers door backing out the garage, spent an 1hr or so getting the door to shut again. qual 2nd with a 61.2 which impressed everyone i think. blew the start of race 1 finished 4th. got a better start in race 2 and passed Lucky and Bond and finished a close 2nd to Finnlayson. race 3 again finished 2nd but may of been declared 1st as Finnlayson was given a 1min pen for excedding the 61sec limit. some of the drivers belive that makes me the winner of race 3 but i dont know if if won my first race or not yet till i see the point score. so it was down to Bond, Luck and myself to win overall. I was on pole (grid 6 as all the targa classed ran together) i knew Bond was on the inside, i was infront on the outside into turn 1 and he gave me a wack which sent me off the track (see incar video on my site later in the week) i was back to 8th, past 4 cars and then she started to overheat and sound funny. i didnt know i was smoking at that stage. so i finished 4th, i could of won and won overall if those 2 things didnt happen. as it was i was 3rd overall, missed 2nd by 1 point and first by 6. i got my first motorsport trophy in which i mannaged to thank my dad before losing my composure.

so thanks Stu, David Clifford, Cable Mate, Dee Jay (for some late sign work) WD Bryan Joiner, the HSCC and mostly Barry (aka Dad) for without him.....forget it.

Just found out I am the winner of Race 3. Uploaded incar of this race to my siteJBR

Well you couldn't of asked for a better day weather wise other than a little more shade.

Was a fantastic days racing with some great battles throughout the day within all the fields. Overall i thought the day went well but there was a little too much downtime throughout the day and i would of liked to of seen more crammed in for the spectators (i know its hard time wise with running the event) as there was a period there for about 35mins that nothing was happening on the track.

The old man ran well improving his lap times in the EH over the 2 days and battled through with gearbox problems. It was also great to be able to take the car around in grid parade and give it a little run whilst doing so :)

Standouts for me were PJ's efforts to entertain the crowd whilst having some fun in the black beast yesterday arvo, Pat Reid getting the torrie back on the track (it was a shame he couldn't get the other car there for the 2 wheel demo :( the boys getting the Fiat back on the track yesterday after being cleaned up on the start line Saturday and causing some extensive damage, HUGE EFFORT guys, Banks having all guns blazing after getting over the gearbox trouble Saturday morning, checking out the set up on Lawson's 200 under the hood and much more.

Congrats to all the winners, it was some of the best racing i've seen in a while here in Tassie :D Kudos to HSCC and all involved in organising/running the day and to all the people that came along with static displays and some of Tassie's racing history, it was great to see it all there.

Looking forward to being able to take my grandkids to the 100th anniversary of Basky and the rest of the racing for this year.

Cheers GMB

Congrats John.

Where can we see the results? there is nothing on natsoft.
