Im thinking of removing my Teins and putting in stock GTR shocks and springs

Do i need a sprng compressor to get the tein springs onto the shox or can i just do the whole job at home

From what i have read on here, fitting suspension is supposedly fairly easy

If you need the spring compressor really depends on how long the springs are. If they're lowered by at least 2", there shouldn't be any need for a compressor, but you should get one just in case. It's not that expensive, I think I purchased mine for about $50.

Compressing the springs where a bitch to do because you had to get it in the perfect position on the spring otherwise it won't fit (into the car). Things just get into the way. Can't remember the details, but when I was replacing my rear shocks, I just recall being pissed off about the compressors. hahah.

Fitting new springs and shocks isn't too difficult. As long as you've got the right tools, it's fairly easy.

i figured i just put springs on the shocks and thats pretty much it for that

they are tein springs, lowered by about an inch i think

stock shocks

Yeah, it was like that for other car's I've worked on as well, but for the skyline, you had to install the springs and shock as two separate things. You had to get the springs compressed so that you can screw the shock's top nut (to the car) while the spring had to sit on the seats in the right position.

Most of the time the compressors would get in the way and make the springs sit in the wrong position on the seats.

But yeah, I've always thought that there was some top for the springs and shocks to go in as once piece just like any other 'normal' after market kit. Mine didn't, it's a GTS-4, but it has the same suspension as GTR's so....

my coilovers are too hard

just want stockies

and maybe tein springs or somethin

LOL! A softer / smoother ride is a lot better. My Cuscos are pretty much on the softest setting and I still get a hard ass ride!

im gona be attempting to remove my stock suspension and put in nismo s tune coil overs

had a look under the car, doesnt seem that hard to remove/replace, unscrew the 2 bolts on the strut tops and the big sigle bolt on the bottom of the shock

im going to buy a spring compressor just incase !

won't the Tein spring rate not be matched to the factory GT-R dampers?

Exactly right. I just went through this whole process of taking out stiff coilovers.

My process was:

stock suspension both springs and shocks are too high.

Stock shocks and lowered springs will wear out the shocks very quickly, plus the handling will be poor in the meantime as the shocks cant control the lowered springs properly

I ended up doing the following:

Bilstein shocks with lowered king springs

End result great handling and comfort. You literally dont feel smaller bumps and the larger bumps feel like small bumps. The car is also faster on any imperfect road and i honestly cant tell the difference in handling even on a smooth road.

The big thing is that you know its going to last. Would be a shame to go to all this effort for poor handling and then have to swap the shocks again.

I had to obtain some strut tops as the coilovers replace them, thats on an R34 GTT so it might be different on the GTR.

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
