Simon-S14
it should be alright with the Vicious LSD, however if you have a clutch pack type such as a 1.5 or 2 way, you'd need a LSD type oil, failing that, you can go get an LSD additive to add to your current oil, sould get a small tube of something to squeeze into the diff Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/207707-help-help-wrong-oil-motul-300gear-non-lsd-oil-in-r32-with-lsd-what-will-happen/#findComment-3673654 Share on other sites
br3ndan
To be on the safe side i would change it.... Never take advice from guys from autobahn/repco or any of those kind of shops... If they offer you advice just smile but dont take any of it into consideration. Why didnt you mechanic notice when you gave him the bottle? You can do ur diff oil your self... isnt too hard. 1 bolt down the bottom of the diff drains your oil, another bolt on the side up the top to fill it up with. You can pick up a little hand pump to get the oil in there which you can keep for next time you do either gearbox or diff! ... Too easy! Hope this helps~ ,failing that, you can go get an LSD additive to add to your current oil, sould get a small tube of something to squeeze into the diff THis one seems like a good idea as well... Simon-S14
its quite common, and its perfectally fine to do so, LSD oil is just normal gear oil with an LSD additive already added. as i said, if its a vicious diff, it wouldnt matter if u used non lsd oil or not... BAMR33
Give the distributer a call, probably the best way of getting the right information. Also autobarn, repco etc. have brochures on the oils, which will give you an accurate listing to what oil you need to use... The guy serving you obviously didn't look it up and that's a big no-no as autobarn is now liable for any damage done to your car if it turned out to be the wrong oil.
