Well today was my first drive of the Formula Holden... and WOW, what a car to drive, I've never driven anything like it before and I loved it. I had wonderful support and mentors with me and I was nervous about this first drive, but I needn't have, it felt fabulous to drive. As most of you are aware, it was raining on and off today and I only had slicks, but didn't stop me from having a whole lot of fun.

I think my best time was 1:11.7 but know I can improve this as I was taking it pretty easy today.

that looks soo awesome! been in the skyline ont he track and it felt quite low to the ground - but that holden would have been like ur just sitting on the road itself!

I'm about 40mm from the ground and it feels great. You lay in it rather than sit which is a bit weird at first but you don't think about it once your on the track. I was expecting it to be much rougher, but it was surprisingly smooth. I was also warned about strengthening my neck muscles for the G forces, but didn't notice it yesterday at all... this morning is another matter... I now have very sore muscles in my neck. Sounds like I have to research how to strengthen these muscles.

I'll be counting the sleeps for the next track day. :D:(:(

Great stuff Michele, looks like an awesome experience... Are you going to race it competitively or just at club level?

By the way if your neck is stiff you should go to revolution race gear and get yourself a helmet brace - they sit on your shoulders and hold the helmet as still as possible, it will help a lot with your neck pain.

P.S. When I get my CAMS license can I have a drive? :turned:

ah, you mean a HANS (Head And Neck Support) device? they are only for when you crash, not for when your driving. they dont hold your head up right and still, they have straps attached to your helmet and the brace stop your head from being thrown forward and breaking your neck when you have a heavy impact with the wall or another car or something. See Here...

oh and Ditto on the drive bit michele :D

Fun is an understatement. She wouldnt stop going on about it all afternoon. :(

There isn't an emoticon here with a grin big enough to show you how much fun it was.

I'm putting a new clutch in tomorrow and should have it ready by the hillclimb on Sunday. I'm planning on taking it easy cos I don't know what the new clutch will be like and how the clearance will go, and am still getting used to the car and gears. But hopefully it will be running on Sunday if anyone wants to take a look at it on the track.

Well my second drive will be today at the hillclimb... fingers crossed she isn't too low and her turning radius will get me around some of those corners.

If anyone wants to come out and spectate, its free entry. If you do, come say hi. Its on the left on Sutton Road, just before the Skidpan, you'll see the signs.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
