Are you guys heel and toeing . When shifting down to 2nd I always get some compression lock up because I'm not matching the revs.

What do you do when downshifting?

I still dont. I can do it if i have no shoes on, but as soon as i have any sort of heel i just can't twist my ankle enough. Might have to invest in some racing shoes and look like a wang :D

And you shouldn't need second at wakefield....In my car i'm all 3-4, same in the silvia. Your smaller turbo should offset my lower gearing somewhat.

Great day today...how hot was it!..nice mix of cars there which was nice to see.

How hot was everyone elses oil temps? 35deg day..mine was reading at one stage 110deg.

poor liz hope she is ok..i was behind her when smoke was just coming out of her car, and coming down the straight with S13, silvia straight off the track n i nearly followed.

oh how many times did that blue MR2 loose it!

because i was staying behind you guys until she pitted i couldn't see too well. i thought that a ring had let go as we were taking about bad compression on cyl 1 earlier in the day. It wasn't until i was on the brakes i realized i was fuxored. I just got off them, straightened up the car and prayed i had enough speed to get through the kitty litter to avoid the indignity of a tow. The funny thing was that the throttle as stuck open when i tried to re join and i initially though that maybe it was open when i was trying to brake.

On the topic of mr2's, there were 2 of them, both the same colour and both of them covered in dust from offs at the fish hook. In one session i was told that he came in and one of the instructors jumped in and even he spun it :D

Got a text from liz at midnight that she was just passing campbelltown!

don't worry you would be able to get out of it quick enough if it was on fire. you just need a motivator...

ben, dave like michelle said its not really heel toe for me either - it is left side of foot on brake and right side blipping throttle. just give it some practice. Funny how driving schools dont teach you the real skills

Well my car has gone emo on me!!

last night driving home - dash lights wouldnt work (I had the powerFC mounted so I could see everything) and the wipers/washers were screwed. Rear window washer turned the front windscreen on...and back wouldnt work.

hmm.....

oh and my brakes are still squealing like a mofo

The highlight of my day?

Breakfast

Glad everyone had a good day, and sorry again about the oil spill! I didn't see it until back straight.. probably because of the dust in the air from that mr2 stack. and i didn't think it was dropping oil onto the track. I thought i was just burning it.

And a massive thanks to Steveo for coming to get me!

Andddddddddddddddddddddd it's not just the seal.... :D

and yeah Goulburn is now painted with oil.. but i don't care, I wasn't going to wait outside the Wakie gates until 10pm.

By the time I got home and unloaded, it was 4am, the chickens survived the day, unlike my voice :D

thanks chubb!

and thanks everyone for helping.... all the usuals.... chubb, bhdave, tmb, ben, james, steveo. It was nice having people that WEREN'T bitching about the oil spill lol

ben.. did you get your car sorted?

I think I've certainly done something

I'm not convinced that the seal just goes... i mean, it wasn't that old. Plus on the drive back to town it started making funny noises up the hill which was the only time I put it under load.

now I've had a good sleep I'm in better spirits

Hey Liz,

Glad you finally got home!

I got home and problems aren't too bad. As I went out after saying goodbye to you the car was fully stuttering and wasnt going to make it - so I had to pull back in and take the intercooler hose and joiner off and rebuild/bodgy up the joiner with 1/2 a roll of duct tape.

I could still hear air wooshing from it as soon as I came near boost up the few hills.

Good luck with yours - is that your daily driver? I've got my Grandmas astina complete with sheepskin seat covers and massive cancer council wrap around sunnies on loan till I get a 90 deg silicone bend

haha, as much as you complain how daggy the daily is, you're always thankful it's there!!! I have a Proton Persona which I only drive if I can't drive the 180! Thank god I have it.

I was wondering why drove past again 20mins later!

Thank goodness it wasn't something more than that hey!!!

It wouldn't hurt to check your loom where it runs through the inner guard. It's not likely that it's damaged, but as the guard came out it may have done something.

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
