I called stylyn today to get a quote for a mongoose for my GTR

they quoted 580 or 590 for a mongoose M80AU fitted

What im wondering is if i really need this much

Does anyone use a mongoose M80S or even an M60 or somethin

i really wanted to do an elarm + install for around 400 mark??

im not really trying to skimp on 200 bucks

but i am wondering if there is any real difference between the two

like if an M80S does the job, i.e. immobilise and has some kind of siren then i reckon thats good enough

Call Doug from Eastside installs 0402 855 801. Doug installed my mongoose M80S. Top job, good price.

do you mind me asking what u paid for yours

there are suppliers on ns.com that sell the mongoose range, m80S for 190 (unit alone) i think.

and ive been quoted 190 from my local audio guy for an install!

gotta love the factory repairs/seconds...

spend the money and be done with it. if you cannot afford the alarm for the car then in reality you really cannot afford the car.

adam (stylyn) does a top job and skimping doesn't really help anyone.

ok im not really skimping

but all im asking does an M80S do the job

i really dont want 500 sensors in my car and all this crap

I was thinking of it exactly the same way as you are, I just want something that will do the job, I don't want to spend $1,000 for all these extra functions that aren't needed when the car can be stolen just as easily anyway

I just want an alarm that will do its job, as these days nothing is full proof

The M80AU is only $220 including postage, thats what I am thinking about getting as the M80S is only $30 cheaper

It has all the features and options that the M80S, M80G, & M80AM have + Ultrasonics Sensor

I'm not to up to date with alarms and stuff but I have sent the guy a PM requesting for information about the alarm and if the M80AU will be a decent system and include all the necessary features and functions

Installation I figure would cost about $200~ locally here in Victoria, so for $440 you will have a decent alarm supplied and fitted which is about the going rate these days

I will keep you updated

M80AU (Standards Approved) M80AU is the M80S + Ultrasonics Sensor, only difference

Supply and Fit $450

Supply $220 (Free Postage)

3 circuit automatic engine immobilisation

Sensor disable by remote

Remote panic

Car finder by remote

I got my alarm from travis at stylyn, he did a great job and he's more then willing to explain the difference between the alarms and there benefits. An alarm / Immobaliser isn't where you want to save pennies.

yeah i got a quote for an install for 190

but im skeptical as to whether it will be mounted in a good place or not

Just ask them where they are going to put it then!

I ended up going with an M80G

Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard

not really - if you bought the car and cannot afford parts to fix it when it breaks - same idea. same again for those that cannot afford insurance on it.

ok im not really skimping

i really dont want 500 sensors in my car and all this crap

one sensor and an alarm module. does fine.

i got the m80au from Stylyn. Awesome work and considering all the work he does to hide the alarm, its worth the labor cost.

The ultrasonic sensors are small sender/receiver located at the very top corners of the windscreen. Barely even notice them.

Stylyn recommended them because if you have window tint and someone hits your window the window wont shatter. Possibly not activating the glass break sensor (m80G). The ultrasonic sensors detect any movement inside the car so it will detect the window falling in etc. Also you can leave your window down when you're at the petrol station and still arm your car knowing that its safe :action-smiley-069:
