Today I had to put down my best friend Kennedy.

He became ill late Thursday night (the night I finally got my GTR back on the road) and I took him to the vet the next day. He seemed to improve and was back home on Saturday (my birthday) and by Sunday was eating and moving around again. About 6:30 am Monday morning he took a turn for the worse and was vomiting regularly. I took him back to the vet and again he seemed to improve enough that the vet said I could pick him up this afternoon. Only 2.5 hours later the vet called to say there was blood in his stool and urine. They opened him up and found a large cancer growth near his kidneys. At 3:15 pm I had him put down.

I'm absolutely devasted as I live alone and he kept me company especially in recent years after bad car crashes where I spent a lot of time at home. In 2003 when I was at my lowest ebb and was searching for just one reason to continue living it was his unconditional love that I found. He was the only creature on this planet that was happy to see me everytime he saw me.

He was a German Shepherd cross Red Heeler and lived for 12 years and 10 months, 11/5/95 - 11/3/08.

RIP Kennedy. Have fun in doggy heaven and I hope we'll see each other again.

I understand what you mean,

For those without dogs try this experiment:

Lock your wife/girlfriend and the dog in the boot of your car for one hour

Open the boot and see which one is happy to see you

Dogs are vary under rated, but the friendship and companionship is unconditional

(on the pluss side a new dog won't ask questions or compare themselves with your old dog)

RIP Kennedy!

I love dogs I've always had atleast one running around out back since the beginning of time.

Bestest friend a man can get! Loyal and doesnt have a female companion that tends to ruin your Friday/Saturday nights by whipping your friend to stay home :laughing-smiley-014:

Haha thats a good one!

my condolences mate, we gave our dog away a few years ago and i remember how upset i was about that, this would be so much worse, sounds like he had a very good life with you though.

RIP Kennedy.

Hope you find another pet to keep you company soon.

Having a younger dog myself i hate for the time where my dog gets older. I think ya done a brave thing posting on a forum bout ya dog good on ya and kudos for ya dog for being a champ when u was at ya lowest.

As long as ya know ya gave him the bestest life he could have, he''d be happy with that.

On on that note my dog deserves a smacho's

:)

my dogs bit of a stoner :P

Sorry to hear this :)

I had a German Shepherd from when I was 12 and she died a few years ago aged 12 years also. Broke my heart when she passed, and in similar cirumstances. Came home one day to find her staggering around the back yard all dazed, took her to the vet she had had a stroke. Within 2 weeks a large tumor grew on her snout, and we had her put down :P

The companionship a dog gives is unconditional - makes it even more sad to hear of the loss

RIP Kennedy

my condolences mate, losing a pet's never easy, especially in a situation such as yours.

did the vet say what type of cancer it was?

his breed mix i'm sure would of made for one hell of a loyal companion.

at least he didn't suffer long. at my work (vets) there's alot of clients who put that decision off for various reasons while the animal get more and more sick/suffers. or the animals spend their last months living in a hospital cage having multiple surgeries/tests done to squeeze a few more weeks of life, tiz very depressing

12 years is a good age.

hang in there buddy :action-smiley-069:

Thankyou everyone for your kinds thoughts and words. I am truely touched and both laughed and shed a tear when reading the messages above.

One of my friends in melbourne said that I would be surprised by people that can empathise and offer support and already SAU has proven this to be true.

Please give all your pets a hug from me tonight... except fish.

    • Here is a recipe. Sonic blocks till you get one that has a good enough bore. Get a torque plate and block brace, use your choice of fasteners (arp ect) bolt the thing together empty, half fill it and let it cure. Release it when it has, go to a REPUTABLE RB Builder and get the thing line bored/honed and cylinder honed to size, then wash. Once its all clean and dandy, wash and blow it out again. Then again.  Assemble said engine to your desired clearances with oil control mods, gasket to suit desired CR/Squish ect. Attach your extended sump with proper trap door oil baffles and head drain plumbed to sump with a SUMP BREATHER SYSTEM. Build your front diff with a decent LSD, rebuild your transfer case with a few extra plates, more than likely replace your tailshaft centre bearing and tighten up the rear diff. Tune to minimise excessive midrange cylinder pressure (timing unless you like to split bores and rebuild engines) Enjoy your engine, but hate the fact you are now destroying engine mounts, gearboxes, gearbox mounts, diff output flanges and driveshafts, diff mounts, tailshafts and front CV's.   Disclaimer.... Ive never done any of the aforementioned stuff.......
    • 440s will support well over 400HP on petrol, which is a decent place to be for an RB20. 230+rwkW. Will be a safer bet for idle/low load. 550s would be nice for the extra headroom. I've made the same decision with mine (Neo25). 1000s are probably too big for the Nistuned ECU, so I have some smaller ones.
    • Appreciate everything guys. I did go ahead and get an alignment... most of my complains are solved. Car is not perfect, but it's good enough. If I notice uneven tire wear or anything I'll just take everything back to stock.  Thanks again!
    • They still have not shipped the 550cc injectors as they weren't in stock, so in theory I could ask to get the 440cc ones instead, if those work better in my scenario. They're the same price so really shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately I am not so knowledgeable in most parts of tuning so I wasn't sure what's best to choose between the two. 440cc ones are the lowest they have (not in stock, but available to buy nonetheless).
