How do u know what time u get? does someone have a stop watch or do you need to bring a lap counter along?

Thanks Luke

If there is official timing they give you a little box to cable tie to your car somewhere

If its not official timing..can use lap times, or a stop watch or ur mobile phone

ax & sinful, you actually both have a legitimate point. There's no doubt that oil surge is a crank journal's worst enemy but having said that, its a matter of working out how much over fill is too much. As long as the crank couterweights aren't swimming in the stuff you should be fine, on the other hand if your crank is hitting the oil on every rev, you're asking for a major disaster.

The only safe & sure measure is to do it the right way the first time......deeper & larger capacity baffled sump and oil restrictors with a good catch can.....problem solved.

Plus it's cheaper to do it right the first time......speak to some of the boys that have broken bottom ends due to surge or over fill.

SLED they must of over filled quite alot :) But I do agree with you on the deeper larger sump and baffling...I am actually baffling my car over the Easter break.. Will be a nice surprise if it already is :P

I do have a catch can and only ever overfill a litre and half and have no problems..That's all I am stating and it works well for me :)

I'm only trying to put across that you dont have to have your car massivly set up to get out and drive on a track..Which I think is alot of peoples mind set..

Cant wait to see SAU SA have there first Track day and I wished this was happening when I live there..

CORRECT. I'd be curious to find out if over filling the sump puts more oil in the catch can than a STD fill after a couple of hard laps or if the difference is negligible.

I've only had my GTR for approx 4 mths so I haven't been able to test for myself.

i know about rod destruction due to too much oil (hydraulicsrod destruction, is the correct term)as i have worked on aircraft engines before and seen what too much oil does to them i would say there wouldn't be much difference to an rb26! do it properly and dont risk bending a rod on a perfectly good motor! i have a 32 with 310kw and i dont have abaffle thats why i didnt take it out to lala, i am also in the process of building an n1 motor with gtrs turbos with a real n1 block, till then my 32 wont go near the track! i hear what your saying but that seems too risky for me.

Well I have enclosed catch can on top of my engine from Just Jap..

Yes it will and this is why we baffle and overfill so there is still something left in the sump to pick up. I have seen the catch cans with the breathers, and they do leak once you get your oil temps really really hot..We have two GTRs and in the other one it's baffle and has loads more power then miine and we overfill that with a litre and half still and its fine  and he has done 2 Trackdays with that freshly built motor..

I am sorry you do have a good point with what you are saying but that is with excessive overfilling (like 3litres due to the pressure and the oil having no where to go)

My GTR is running the same amount of power as you and I am not risking my motor with over filling just a litre and half its been proven in 3 track days now and pushing the car exceptionally hard! Its happy

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
