Hi guys,

Thailand was great: crazy country full of hookers, open sewers and crazy taxis! Oh.... and scooters, and tailors (pushy bastards), and street vendors selling squid on a stick (wasn't game to try it!).

I have an issue: my car was supposed to have the rust in the doors repaired, and a full respray while I was gone, but it turns out the rust had gone too far, and replacement doorskins will be needed: the repairer hasn't had a great deal of luck finding any, so my stag is still in pieces. I thought where better to find some replacements than on here?

So.... If anyone knows where I can get both left and right front door skins for my C34, don't be shy!

Anyone who feel like donating one of theirs? Or both?

Cheers guys, please let me know if you are aware of any available asap.

Many thanks,

Micah

Good luck finding them dude, but if I were you, I wouldn't be holding my breath...

Is this just the std rust under the mirrors?

You should be able to get the stuffed section cut out and a rolled-to-fit section flush welded in? Maybe you need to talk to some body repair people that specialise in hot rod and custom work? I know that someone repairing a 49 Desoto isn't going to be able to just buy a new door skin, and they manage to get body repairs done.

Yeah, I dont like your chances of someone saying, here have my doors, unless they want the moke look  You can always give it a go yourself. Back when I was 16 I hand made all the entire lower sills, and sections in the doors of my lj torana.... Oh the memories. The metal is the cheap bit, but luckily mig welders are a heap cheaper these days. I think around the $500 mark. Just give it a go, you might surprise yourself :)

Here she is, obviously not quite completed at that stage, but I had just done the respray, home jobby too...

hmm micah from my limited experience in the field (6 months of paid work exp at a paint and panel shop) im under the impression that they can just cut the section out, and tack weld a new section in. If need be, they can roll the new section to match the curves of the original. The other way is to weld a piece behind the rust hole, and then fill it. Unless it pretty fierce rust a whole door skin is not generally needed.

Oh and did you bring back any shirts?????????

crap crap crap. I know someone who has doors, but he's so unreliable with returning emails..... we'll see how this pans out. The rust is BAD: I left it a lot longer than I should have ;(.

Tried to get Stag shirts, but sadly to no avail

I'll go back again in a few months, if I can.... I'll do it for the team :P

As far as doing it myself..... The force is not strong in my family: mechanical inadequacy is the dominant gene: will get a few more repairers opinions, meanwhile hoping the guy with the doors gets back to me.

Thanks fellas!

Cool: that would be much appreciated! doors/doorskins....not worried either way as long as they are rust free - Respray is a foregone conclusion: when the rust is taken care of, I am removing the 'sports racks', and all badges, and colour coding the bump strips (I have a S1), so I will be getting a full respray regardless...

ill be having a family friend who owns the local favourite smash repairs joint and is a good hand at plastic welding, so i'll be having him remove the racks and flush fill the holes left in the rails with plastic, before having them high filled and painted black. Should be tidy!!!! Let me know how your guy goes, micah.

Im removing all badges except for Autech 260RS (ie any nissan and stagea badges).

What colour you going, micah?

What colour you going, micah?

I think I'll just go factory pearl white (silky snow) again: nobody ever suspects the white Volvo! That, and the fact thatI don't really want to have top remove the engine just to repaint the engine bay: when it comes out, it will be for a 50% pwer increase: aesthetics take a back-seat to performance...

nice... i like the pearl white that nissan and toyota like to spread around. Still looking forward to going for a strap in your car! I told you i los tmy licence til bloody august?

Hmm im hoping the black wont get noticed too much either... you putting a kit on yours at all?

Nah.... already has the Dayz kit: it will do. I priced the kit I wanted, and it came back at $3500 delivered: too expensive for something that doesn't make the car faster. Plus, I like the subtlety: it's all about keeping a low profile for me...

cos huge porsche brakes and GTR wheels are subtle lol... nah i get what you mean. I wouldnt spend those sorts of dollars on something that isnt going to help speed. My limit for a set of 18's is like 1750, no more than that.

All sorted: we managed to find a good passenger door, and we are going to repair the driver's door. Work is now underway to remove all badges and sports racks, and ZI'm fitting Ganador mirrors before a full respray. Hoping to have the old girl back in the next fortmight, but time will tell...

If only my damn Legnum wasn't held up: it sucks having no car!!

I've just noticed a small amount of rust under my passenger mirror, what's it costing you to get the door repaired, or is it just being lumped in with all the other work?

All one package: sorry! No idea what anything is costing yet, but I'm not looking forward to the day I have to pay! My mech organised it, and he'll get me a good deal...

crap: I was outbid on the ebay door!

Still in the same boat.... Any help would be appreciated!

yeah thats me

I'll try to pick it up this weekend, depending on the seller

did you want it? I bidded for it in case a) someone here eventually needed it, or b) i respray it (ive got paint) and use myself as my rust needs attention soon, too

for a bid of $40 I figured it wasnt a bad "spare" to keep in the garage

Crap: sorry Tangles: If I'd known it was you, I would have left it at $12.50 and bought it off you later!

I'm all good: rust repair/new door should be all done by Mon/Tue, but I'm going to leave it with them and get it back perfect in a couple of weeks.

It's killing me having no car, though... :P

    • I couldn't agree more. I should have started from the get-go with a NEO or solid bucket conversion. I started looking into converting over to solid lifters yesterday. Now for some reason I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  But I see no mention of this on any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must me missing something?
    • BRUH, one of the biggest mistakes of my life..... and i've had plenty ;[)
    • @Murray_Calavera iam just considering options 🙂 of course it is very expensive so that why i ask here 🙂  @joshuaho96 I looked at that GCG hybrid(i remember looking at it few weeks before) So this is "that" hybrid where i send them my turbo and they upgrade the inside to Garrett stuff and then they send it back. It cost around 1200-1300 USD which is FAR cheaper than the HKS and it is what iam looking for(i just do not have experience like this...to send something off to "upgrade" ) @tylink720 that is like 150 USD turbo no? 😄 I dont think i have the "ease on my mind" with this kind of turbo. I just put over 7000k USD to "LINK" up my engine...dont want to blow it up with cheap turbo 😄     EDIT: https://www.cj-motor.com/gcg-turbo-charger-for-nissan-rb20det-rb25det-high?srsltid=AfmBOooVeOZ6CZ6r1AIv5m-KPaa6BvudIPJTY8LW78khkd-gQlsaCht9 I looked at this and it seems ok? It is that CGC hybrid and it costs around 1250 USD (with back shipping). Do any of you have experience with this hybrid on NEO turbo? I quickly look thru the forum/web and it seems very good.
