G'day crew! Just briefly: my boss has purchased a house that he's looking to put some sort of intergrated home system( speakers in each room, centrally controlled, and all that jazz. I don't know the proper term for it, but you know what I mean...).

Rather than throw him to the lions, I know there's a few ACT members on here in the industry that I'd rather steer him towards for quotes/sales. Can you PM me or post up your work whereabouts if you're happy for everyone to know about what you do, and I'll get him on to you!

Thanks in advance, Jayce.

Does he need someone to sell his old place? *Raises hand enthusiastically*

One a seriouser note..... If he wants to avoid all of the fuss of installing multiple speakers, then something like the Phillips or Yamaha sound bar would be a great option. I'm just about to buy the Phillips sound bar for my place, it's a single central unit with multiple speakers facing various directions which give surround sound.

when it comes to in house stereo systems, bose will not, cannot be beat.

unfourtunatly, when it comes to in house stereo systems, will not be cheap.

if your boss has a decent income then bose is the only way to go. nothing compares.

failing a bose system, the best way to go about it is to buy a with hdmi is also handy.good reciever/tuner, with plenty of in/outs and a decent amp. somthing

then to add onto that your standard jb hi fi in cieling speakers are some of the best quilty home stereo speakers you can get for the price, are easy to install. then a fair few meters of speakers cable (16awg being the norm for home theater systems) and youll end up with a very nice sounding home theater setup with provisions for speakers throughout the house and outside, limited only by the quility/outputs of the amp.

if your after anymore info, add me on msn. i know a fair bit on the subject and my boss knows even more:)

Well there is a guy in this forum who works for one of the best hifi places in Canberra. I'll let him PM Jayce.

As a oposing opinion, and from my own limited experiance, and then discussing with multiple "experts" incuding the BOSE people. BOSE is not the best. Also from a mate that sold the stuff side by side to the other real names in hifi, he was clear BOSE did not have the sound quality of the other big names. They do great custom installs with funky things but not the basics very well.

But agreed it will not be cheap.

Cheers,

That's the guy below :-)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK.... where do I start....

Hey Jayce, it's Pat here...

I work at Duratone Hi-Fi and have worked at the Bose store. To start with Bose is an extremely functional product but is very expensive... very over priced! There are many more products on the market that are as functional and sound INFINTATELY better! So, yes, not meaning to be-little you opinion too much - PjAu - there are many products that do compare and anyone in the industry of Hi-Fi and sound don't really respect Bose.

So, what your boss is wanting to do is effectively run audio into other rooms, right? It's called "zoning". Whether is be outdoor/indoor or in-wall/off-wall speakers, it's all pretty simple to do. Well... when I say simple, it just requires someone to set it up who knows what they are doing. All of which can be done by people who I can advise you/your boss to talk to.

I will PM you my phone number. Give me a call if you want and I can work some things out for you. Even if I can offer some advise I'd be happy to help (I'm not going to try and sell your boss something he may not need/want or something expensive just so I can make some commission on it).

N.B. I should also say, please... to anyone who reads this post. I'm more then happy to help anyone out with systems and getting a good deal, but please be reasonable! I have had some PMs in the past asking me to buy people things for stupid amounts.

Cheers,

There's a saying on some of the so-called 'hifi' sites I frequent. Friends don't let friends buy Bose.

I don't know alternative suggestions for integrated systems, but if they're buying a stereo to listen to music, I wouldn't touch Bose with a 10 foot barge pole. But ppl who want integrated systems are usually primarily after subtlety in the home and ease of use, so sure: it'll do a reasonable job for a home theatre.

Jayce,

I'll give you a buzz tomorrow regarding the Hi-fi equipment. Probably before lunch.

Shoes are great BTW.... did I mention that I hate running :-P

Cheers,

B

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
