Moving To Sydney Soon - Lookin For A R33gts-t Steal Deal.......

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, just new to this forum, lookin to move to Sydney from NZ and have a 95-98 Series 2 R33 GTS-t in mind, where can I get the best deals - could anyone please give me a list of 'repossessed car / auction companies' in Sydney which are likely to have this car at steal deals - their web addresses?? Have been lookin in carsales.com.au, tradingpost.com.au, motorpoint.com.au, drive.com.au - which is the best one?? They all seem more or less the same, ie which one would you guys recommend??

I'm 30yrs old, lookin to grab a clean, preferrably lowered 95-98 car with mild or no mods for under 10k. Prefer white, no spoiler or stupid kit, and 17' or 18' deep dish Work Meister rims...ahhh..where can I pick up a 2nd hand set of deep dish rims/tyres and costs and or costs of lowering with king springs etc, what do u guys mostly use??

It will be a normal and sexy daily driver that I can park at the train station so nothing flash - and any ideas on insurance for a 30yr ol fart??

Please provide feedback if you can, your help will be much appreciated -- cheers n thanks!! RON laugh.gif

no matter how stock the car was.. I wouldnt be parking it at any train station for a long period of time.

check out the for sale section on this forum for good examples of cars for sale. Also the trader section can help you get parts/rims etc

brother from NZ wWOOOT!!

under 10k would net you a 95 model probably. Just gotta be patient, I've seen a couple for sale at that price.

I still think carsales is the best one so far, drive.com.au has way too many dealer ads, so don't even bother looking there.

I agree with Sammmmberteh, I wouldnt be leaving an r32/33/34 at any railway station car park in sydney!!!!

insurance? just cars would be the best. 13 13 26

or justcarinsurance.com.au

oh, and welcome!!!

be sure to check out events section when you are here!

Personaly I wouldn't recommend Just Car insurance, as they are extremely expensive, and DO NOT give you choice of your own repairer (their really just for young hoons).

Being 30 yrs old you should be able to find a much better deal els where.

I know you really can't compare as it depends on age, driving record, suburb, colour of your underwhere etc.

I'd recomend GIO special vehicles or Lumley Special Vehicles (LSV). Ph:1300 88 56 16.

My R34 is insured with LSV full comprehensive for $31,398 with an annual premium of $1,227.

I had an accident last year (not at fault) and LSV approved repair with my usual panel beater who is extrememly expensive.

I don't know about you but I like to have that choice, have a serious accident with Just Car Insurance and your likely to have problems with the quality of repair.

Just my opinion.

Thanx mate for ur advice - I will consider that - do any of you use a R33 GTS-t as a daily driver to work, ie park in city or train station etc ??? From the looks of things, I suppose these cars are highly likely to get stolen from Sydney train stations...??

And I also been looking at the R32GT-R as a second option, which seems so cheap in Oz, are any of you owners of this super car who also use it as a daily car ??--- and is this car VERY likely to get stolen - whats the insurance and running costs like for this car??

cheers n thanx again guys....................

50% of 32GTR owners seems to forever have their car in the garage, in pieces, waiting for rebuild. Don't ever leave your car at train stations, it's unsafe. Grab a $200 shitbox and use that as a dialy driver. Where will you be living?

R34 sedan, Im pretty sure LSV wouldnt cover a skyline at a railway station all day. Just cars would prob be this guys best bet. Im sure LSV would want a bit more history. Justcars dont care if you leave your car at redfern station unlocked at night!

Oh, and Im not insured with JC anyway and yes, Id like to have my choice also but being new here...how likely is he going to know a good repairer? :D Im just saying they are most likely the company that would be the most able to insure him in HIS situation :)

For sure JC may be his best bet, but I'm suggesting a few other options he should look in to (as their may be better out there).

Don't know if LSV would cover him at a train station all day, would need to check.

    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
