finally, they're doing something about it...

just saw it on the news, 400 police this morning set out to make arrests, south west of sydney... for rebirthing cars. Wonder how many of these are skylines.. they mentioned that some of the cars were car jacked..

Was my S14 200sx - sad to see it go, but the insurance paid for a much nicer nissan! Heard from QLD police 18months later - it had turned up on the Gold Coast - must have been a hell of a holiday for the old girl!

Was 100% as it left me, and on to it's second owner - but they got the bloke who originally sold it- haven't caught the ones that stole it (yet).

Now have tracking alarms on both cars - won't happen again. The factory immobiliser obviously didn't give them any trouble....

Sure DLuded, but did you ever wonder, when the cops are after crims, who has time to defect cars? I hope RTA inspectors can help out, coz we can't afford to have commonwhores all over the country loosing at the traffic lights.

it really doesnt bother me to see crappy cars like that driving around (because i have a crappy LOUD car and i dont want to get caught). anyway i would prefer to see cops actually doing something useful then being wasted on defecting cars. all that money wasted on police equipment and its being used to defect car...not worth it

Well said. :)

Ha,Ha,,, they got 23 scumbags today and heaps of evidence of others involved,,,,,,Bankstowns such a lovely place,,,,lots of Panel Shops got raided as well as 2 Warehouses. Some got court with stolen boats as well. Others were stealing new cars and stripping them for parts.

I thought something was going on this morning,,,next to no cop cars at Bankstown Cop Station when I walked past at 7.00am. I'll ask the head copper next time I see him ,,he sometimes stands outside sucking on a Cig.

Neil.

hope this really cuts back on the car thefts and car jacks.... for awhile anyway.

Insurance companies must be happy knowing where all their funds went.

Would really be interested to know how many of these cars are skylines or other grey imports. They mentioned most were 'exotic' cars... are skylines classed as that.. or is that an understatement.. muahaha! :)

ALL I Can say is:

SUCKED IN!!!!!! :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:

Its a bout time those bloody cops do something good instead of bullsh*t defects and petty fines. although i get mixed feelings when i remember that the money from all the defects and fines helped to fund that bust. At least it was for a good cause.

if so it just confirms how some guys in the south west are funding their Bemmer convertables and M3's........

Actually, you'd be very surprised to find out exactly how much money these guys get from their parents.......

They act all big & tough, but 99% of them would have absolutely no chance of surviving without their mum & dad.........

MR CRX was the "workshop" that was raided? can anyone 100% confirm this or is it simply another rumour.

I just read the heral and sounds like performance workshops, car yards and mroe were involved.... they mentioned no skylines however found containers with WRX's etc and showed a shot on the news of a inside a workshop with a WRX with big FMIC in full view...

Sounds like the carjacking saga might be coming to a close *hopefully*

I know the above workshop is in bankstown and cops said they found a container FULL of parts outside the un named workshop and seized over 35 cars...

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
