Tokyo - Anyone Going Or Living There At The Moment?

Recommended Posts

I'm not going there yet- but who are you flying with? I looked up flights and Qantas is expensive, but takes you to Tokyo and Jetstar is cheap but only goes to Osaka or Nagoya! Then it's either another flight, train or hitch hiking to get to Tokyo!

Jetstar are cheap and are fairly good.

To get from Osaka -> Tokyo the JR Rail passes are really really good and worth the money!. ~$300 for a weeks pass.

Osaka is a great place too! I like it, esp the long long long long shopping strip - around Shinsaibashi.

Take this and times it by like 50:

Thanks Dood(z)! So Jetstar it is...the railpass is a Japan wide thing? Sounds like an awesome idea to get around- seeing as i'll be coming from Osaka :)

I deeply apologise for point blank thread hijacking :P But i'll book flights and we can eat sushi and get drunk together :)

I'm here till the 6th! Such an amazing place! The rail system is confusing at first but absolutely excellent.. we went on qantas but i'm sure jetstar is cheaper. I just want to know if there are any interesting car shows or races on near Tokyo atm :P

What about catching Super GT? It's in the Shizuoka Prefecture @ Fuji Speedway. That's on my to do list.

Absolutely will be there! I saw the GTR win today on TV :) and the NSXs spin out :D

Ithink I might have suggested meeting up for fuji in a different thread :D

JR rail passes are great.I had one for two weeks. But there are alot more lines in Tokyo that are not JR.Its cheap as though.

Osaka to Tokyo on Shinkansen is about 2 1/2hrs.If you were to pay, this fare alone is almost half of your JR pass.

Hey all

Sorry for the late reply, been away with work for couple days.

Im heading to Tokyo on 20the may till 2nd June, im flying with Malaysia airlines which i found to be fairly cheap , Myself and my mate are going and staying in tokyo, Would be good to catch up with couple people while there and either check out some things in the same interest, I see a few of you will be there around same time as we will be, maybe we can organize something?

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
