Envy Imports + Evidence Onlines Gtr Progress Update

Recommended Posts

Selection of pics from the receival of Envy Imports Premium Edition GTR to the testing phase (rear interior, seats, headlight and front bar removed) to the unveiling at surfers paradise last night.

Evidence Online will supply Envy Imports with the evidence documentation and testing for Envy Imports to be able to comply this and 24 other new GTR's under the new low volume scheme.

Please note: Pics are compressed for dial-up viewing.

PS - the car was being kept in our ALARMED and secure shed, but is now on its way down to emissions testing.

The thought of it being stolen was the primary reason i waiting until the car is in an unkown location before posting on any forums.

Removing the rear interior and seats was necessary to conduct a pull back test on the seats and pull forward test on the child restraint anchorages. Yes I know, bit stupid having to put CRA's in a sports demon like the GTR, but ADR's will be ADR's. The front bar needed to be removed in order to remove the headlamp. Due to the ADR's, even with auto-leveling HID lights, with no washer or wiper on the headlight, we have to convert the lights to normal bulbs and have the light tested by a photometric laboratory.

I know what you mean. Generally people just copy what you've said and post everywhere, but someone has taken my comments, edited and added their own bits to make it look like theres an opportunity for more workshops to get involved in this car compliance wise, which is untrue.

Can I please ask that no one uses these photos or any wording from my post to publish on any other websites or publications without the consent from either Herman (Envy Imports) or myself (Evidence Online).

I appreciate your assistance.

Ben

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
