gt-ahhh!
so this guy i know is buying an sti wrx. the previous owner is claiming a wsid quarter mile of 12.1s with only 205kw at the wheels. i call bullshit. how can that be possible? i reckon youd need the best part of 300 to get a gtr down the other end in 12.1. thoughts? OFENSV
id believe it. you dont need 300awk in a gtr to do 12.1 and a wrx is a fair bit lighter than a gtr Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/215631-121s-with-205rwkw/#findComment-3809355 Share on other sites
Bumblebee
umm try 11.7 for 300awkw gtr... Edit: just realised what i wrote.. 11.7??? for 300awkw?? oh god.. the stock R35 with less power does it faster.. all because of its super gearbox.. jantolis
I know someone who has done a 12.6 with 200kw atw in an sti and not getting much traction because of bad tyres. WOuldn't surprise me if it was possible to do a 12.1 with good tyres and extra 5kw Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/215631-121s-with-205rwkw/#findComment-3809367 Share on other sites

I reckon you need to research A GTR can get into the mid 11's with stock turbos if driven hard. So around 250awkw is all. R31Nismoid
Well mid 11's (i edited the post) so knock off a few kw, knock off some of the time. I think it could be done. Not easy, but could be done. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/215631-121s-with-205rwkw/#findComment-3809402 Share on other sites

gt-ahhh!
fkn hell. so the consensus is that it is possible. and i may get pwned at WSID, if it isnt raining... a R33 gtst would need AROUND 300rwkw eh? R31Nismoid
No, 250rwkw if that. Its all about tyres and practice mate. I went 12.9 with 210rwkw back when i was racing (1400kg), and that was 225 street tyres, semis/slicks would be mid-low 12 no problem. Howie
I'd say it's doable.. we're going to run my mate's rexy with just over 200awkw and hope for around mid 12's. R31Nismoid
No point without tuning for the fuel really. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/215631-121s-with-205rwkw/#findComment-3809462 Share on other sites
some_cs_student
No point without tuning for the fuel really. But wouldn't it be a good idea to prevent pinging? I know its a good idea on the track but since the drag is soooo much shorter is it even worth going a higher octane fuel? VB-
not really, although it does offer a slight safety buffer over 98, one you probly dont need anyway provding your car has a decent tune Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/215631-121s-with-205rwkw/#findComment-3809588 Share on other sites
R338OY
i reckon youd need the best part of 300 to get a gtr down the other end in 12.1. My mate does 12.2 in a 280awkw GTR, with 4WD problems. He could do even better. ill chuck v power racing in, 100ron. is it worth getting booster? much more powah? bad for engine etc? Isn't it 5-10% ethanol? Not recommend for your car, can damage the injectors. A one off? Then i wouldn't worry.
