The Jap - English conversion of all the screen except the Navigation screens should be avilable by June and cost should be around $200 - 250. This cost is still a bit of a guess as I am waiting on the cost from the company developing the conversion but it is possible. I have a demo version (a few screeens converted) already installed and it is quite easy to do.

Cheers

Hey Andy any updates on this one?!

Hey Andy any updates on this one?!

The timing is still estimated as September for finished product. They are also changing the fuel consumption to read "liters/100km" instead of "km's/Liter" as currently shown.

As soon as I have some concrete stuff to post I will put it up on the forum.

Cheers

hello all,

been spending a few days reading all the posts on sat nav conversion/replacement .. getting more confused.

a few bits you might be able to help me with

1 ... is there any real chance that russian conversion cd will ever happen

2 ... I'm just about to get a double dinn replacement units (2k :D ) ... not really happy about this as i would prefer to keep the centre console as it, but it just dont work.

3 ... by putting in a double dinn unit and moving up the ac control unit, does the original pop up screen have to be taken out or can it be left in the unit ( i dont want to put in a blanking unit if possible).

4 ... last thing, if i do go the double dinn route and leave in the original screen, is it possible to run a cable from the new unit to the original screen, ok i would have the same image on both screens but i prefer the position of the original screen (easier to see)

thanks for any help/advice you might have

I think you can leave the OE screen but wiring it up with your new double DIN head unit is a different story. But the OE screen does have an aux input, that's a way for your connection to get in but to switch to aux input you normally use the factory bose. so there you got another issue to sort out, but i'm sure it can be done with some kind of a relay. but i'm no expert - best to answer might be Chris who's done some work on these cars and know what works and what's not

The Jap to Enlish language conversion will happen and is due in September. The actual conversion of language is not hard. I already have a demo of the conversion that changed my first screen and part of the fuel screen. The whole precess is also very easy to install.

The delay is while they write a program to protect themselves from theft of their intelectual property. As the conversion is done from a DVD disc, they do not want to give the conversion away and would like to be paid fairly for the work they have done to work it out.

September is just around the corner.

Cheers

Awesome Andy.. wondering if it'll be a self-install process, or will we have to take our vehicles to a distributor of the software? If so is there a way Adelaide folks can get it done without driving to Sydney?

1 - I'll leave that to andy.

2. up to you . budget $4-800 for the necessary bits to do it correctly. (top end price is for bose.)

3. no. I did a stagea in sydney (yes I travel :) ) and retained teh screen by request.

4. yes. and it can run full time if needed. one point though. FORGET the EBAY rubbish. if you were going the 2DIN route do this: AVN6000 with IPOD, B'Tooth and a HITV box. best $4k you could spend.

as for me. I work on them daily and I have a LOT of solutions for them. forget the V36/37 series btw. 36 is on the RAWS list - NO-ONE has done the$30k emissions test on them and to my knowledge there's not one in the country yet. 37 series is too new.

questions on the 35 AV system - ask :D

The install process to get my demo was pretty basic. Install a DVD in the DVD rom, scroll through the Jap menu on your screen and enter on a few options on the screen. Quite simple even though you are guessing what the boxes say as they are in Jap but after that the process just runs. The demo I had that converted about 3 screeen took about 5 minutes so not sure how long the full version will take.

I will know for sure if it is self install once I know what the security process is for each install. I am sure we will be able to install it where ever the car is.

I understand the main problem encountered when doing the install is that the laser in the DVD rom can get too dirty over time and doesn't read the disc. In these cases the DVD rom need to be removed from the car to clean the laser. In Russia this has been the case in about 1 in 10 installs.

Just counting down the day........

Cheers

thanks for the help lads ....

my car is a 2006 350gt .... had 300zx for years, never liked the look of the 350's till i actually saw one irl ... liked it a lot then.

I'd like to wait for the conversion disk, but need a proper cd/radio ... was thinking about a Kenwood DNX-7200 (seems pretty good)

Chris you flying to Ireland any time soon .... you get the flight and i'll pay the install :D

Hi Frank,

do these fit on the standard OEM calipers? how do they attach exactly,

cheers,

Danny

Sorry Danny:

I personally have never used this stuff, I heard that they applied almost factory break and stick onto it. I also afraid it may fall off during driving.

I came across this bluetooth unit:

plus the harness that goes with Nissan/Infiniti

What do you guys think...?

Chris have you got similar thing? I'm trying to avoid anything that clips onto sun visor or plugs into ciggy lighter.

yep I sell those. there is a catch with the bose setup though. the harness probably wont work.

I also sell the screen versions IE 3200 and 3400.

Is this like having alloy hubcabs, a waste of time?

Why anyone would want to stick something on their brake calipers is beyond me.

Anyway, sorry back on topic.

They look good, but if you can not integrate into the stereo there isn't much point, imo.

A Bluetooth headset over the ear is what I use, that an Nokia Voice Dialling.

Chris is there something that works with Bose?

also when you come down here, I probably need you to look into the navigation's voice as it's not loud enough even at 100%. You told me you have a 'patch' to make the navi voice louder?

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
    • The video for the servicing and fuel filter change can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ65pmQt44 One of the main jobs I wanted to do before the car officially went on the road, was to remove the awful looking blue silicone hoses. There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way. Fuse box covers were painted blue, they're now satin black Another job on the list while the bumper was off, is to add some mesh https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737966256_99b28bfa30_c.jpg[/img] I was hoping to use some thin wire to secure it, but it seems I've misplaced it and the wire I had was too thick to twist easily. I ended up using cable ties for the time being https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131882_c2b7989dcc_c.jpg[/img] Was pleasant to see this https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54737131627_8b2aab13b3_c.jpg[/img] The last thing to do was to fix the front grill and re-mesh that to match but I ran out of time The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4FsF6tgizE&t=23s
