Damn thats right I forgot about the v-band. That turbo is a beauty. Ben Ellis at Otomoto gave me some info I liked. He said it will start boost around 2800 and makes 10psi at 3500. He said it will happily support 300whp. $770 US shipped is really cheap for such a turbo. Looks like no screamer or open wastegate for me. Thanks for replies.

Don't believe everything a sales person tells you :D

In my option, they are a cheap shit turbo and are VERY laggy for the power they produce.

300whp=220wkw

You will be much better off finding a HKS GT2530 or GT2535; or a Garrett equivalent.

True but I'm looking for a direct bolt on to factory mani. Just something that will put down 300whp efficiently. If someone can modify the stock mani to accept a wastegate that will work too. I'm not trying to spend 500+ on a mani with those power levels.

The turbos i mentioned are direct bolt ons, to the factory manifolds. The HKS turbos can come as a complete kit, so you don't have to spend more money on water/oil lines, dump pipes, intake pipes, fmic piping, etc.

Why go external gate on such a low power goal? Better to keep it internal, when you consider epa, defects, etc.

going with the KKR and custom or just off the shelf lines will still work out heaps cheaper than an HKS turbo kit.

alot of people dont like them because failures have been well documented. ive never used one so i cant speak from experience. a ball bearing garret unit isnt much more expensive.

a mate had the 430 on his RB20 cefiro with a microtech ecu. it was tuned very rich and made 210rwkw on 20psi. far from massive power but 220 is definetly achieveable.

theres also no reason why you cant have an external gate. alot of guys in nz use external gates on the original manifold. the 430 is more than big enough to utilise an external.

our 180 has a TD05 16g, a fairly small turbo with a monster trust external gate.....

plus external gates sound very cool.

goodluck.

I would want even that response in writing, ive tuned a few, and havnt found the response or boost threashold to be great.

+1

90% or more of reports show people NOT happy with these turbos after purchase.

Thanks for responses. I'm now considering a gt30r or a tdo6-20g(If I desired more power its there). I don't mind a bit/alot more lag(save gas off boost  ). I want an external because I would trust it better than an internal and like esky_mad said it sounds cool. Nothing sounds like an external wastegate opening at 20psi. This car is just something to have a blast in. If I like it, I like whether its function or form.

maybe also look at a GT28RS/GT2530/GCG RB25 High-Flow.. should get you around the power figure u want with supporting mods =]

But will they pull to 8k? Again no reason for 8k other than thats where I want to take it. I was looking at a GT3076R. Will it bolt to stock mani with a spacer? I need some more info on the tdo6-20g as well. Whats its efficiently range?

Not 100% sure if they pull to 8K someone else would have to clarify on that one, i just know their the most responsive/low amount of lag turbo's that are direct bolt on for an RB20 that pull hard early (no v-band required just oil/water lines would most likely need to be changed) and they reach about the 230rwkw mark. Good luck on the hunt =]

Thanks man. I want to go ahead to get a turbo efficient to 20lbs or so. I want a 17-20lbs from 4000-4500 to 8k or more. My ka just would run out of steam too early for me because of rpm limitations.

do you have an SR20? either way I am running a trust T518Z on my SR20 it's currently making 226rwkw on about 16/17psi (from memory). pulls very hard and comes on very nicely. great little turbo.

    • Order for the 2025 model R35 GT-R were accepted from 3rd March and 26th August the last order rolled off the production line at the Tochigi plant. Concerning the R35 GT-R replacement, current Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said "Nothing has been decided about the GT-R at this time, but we are well aware that everyone is waiting. The GT-R will evolve and reappear in the future. Please be patient until that day comes." Nissan has a lot of issues with management and finances so take Espinosa's words with a big grain of salt. From what discussions I've had and read about here in Japan, not a lot of people are confident about Nissan's future, let alone the next GT-R.
    • Thanks. We getting some parts along too so he will be solving the speed issue like next week so i will let you know what he came up with.
    • 21 is explicitly the coils detected as the issue. Is it guaranteed the actual issue? No. Just the ECU thinks it is. When you say rattling, describe it better, get an audio clip as best you can if possible.
    • Yea got me coppers. Bad news is I just put them in and the car still has the light and shakes. I also noticed I hear like rattling coming from the exhaust piping right under me. Does 21 also have a possibility of being O2 sensors?   So, coil packs are good, the harness is good, the MAF is working, and obviously the spark plugs just replaced and working.
    • Make sure you drop the GTT base tune back in, and set your injectors again, this will remove anything playing up with it you may have removed. Possibly lean there as it's normally a fast transient going THROUGH atmospheric pressure, and a turbo motor would then quickly go richer as boost builds. The only worry you MIGHT have is ignition timing, as the DE is higher compression than the DET from memory. But again, you're not in boost, so the DE motor will be a lot more forgiving at atmospheric.   Get Murray, Kinkstahs, and Johnny's input on tuning haltechs, those guys have played with tuning enough in the past to be able to help now you're past the trouble shooting stage of the MAP issue
