A good idea would be to contact Ashwood and see if he would match the donation dollar for dollar. He gets publicity and does something nice, skyline fans get some food and a cruise, kids get help they need. Everybody wins.

Tried Terry on the mobile today but no luck ! - ill give it another go over the weekend and report back in ! :D

Got any interesting item(s) youd be prepared to have raffled for a good cause ?? - post them up !!

Any further ideas on the preferred date for the day ??

cheers malcolm

sounds great. count me in.

i'll have a chat to some people at my work see if i can get a donation out of them too. they support all sorts of charities. not sure if they have set ones they donate too but it wont hurt to ask. :D

EXCELLENT !! - thats a great idea !! - thanks for your support ! -

Hi Mal, mate count us in too. should be a good day.

Hi adam - great you guys can make it !

I just tried Terry again on the mobile - no answer - ive left a message outlining what we're doing and he'll either ring me or ill call back early in the week.

.....any further ideas on a date for the drive ?? & raffle ideas ??

- cheers malcolm ;)

Saturday 31 May?? or any of the weeks after...

dont want to drag the planning stage too long otherwise we will lose interest...

I think we should have a raffle....free tank of petrol....seatcovers...some kind of accessory one of our sponsors might like to donate...

cheers.

Date depending, I am in for sure!!!

Once we have a confirmed date, update the first post with the date and I will see e eryone there.

Cant wait, it will be my first SAU cruise with the R32 :nyaanyaa:

B.

hey brian,

cheers for your support...

you should come out more often!!

SAU cruises are the best!!

my little brother goes bonkers "OMG LOOK AT ALL THE ROUND LIGHTS LIGHT UP!!!!"

Hi there :P - Well Terry did return my call but got my message service !! - he knows what we're planning and is happy to have us up there & to chat further :ermm:

What we need to do is to decide on a date that will give enough time to organise merchandise / raffle / auction and a Sunday thats not on the same weekend as a motorsport or other event as per Duncans request.

Thought id give the Cumberland Newspaper Group a call - they might run an article if we can supply a few pics - you never know !! :D

So the biggy is the date .... ??.....any further ideas ?? ;)

Cheers Malcolm

- ps - can everyone please start telling heaps of people to come on the day NISSANS or not ! :P - and dont forget your donation !! - which i now think should be $20 per person & not $25 per car as i originally suggested as its ALL about a BIG fat cheque to put a BIG fat :P SMILE :P on somebodys face !!

:D

any further news on this?? i dont think the long weekend is a good idea (8th june) only for the fact that its the long weekend and many of us may be away that weekend.

anyway just a thought.

Hi there :)

Just got off the phone with Terry Ashwood who's away on business till Sun. eve. Ive arranged to call him again at 10am next Tues May 27th to discuss in full all that we are proposing.

Which is: Charity Drive to La Porchetta / lunch / raffle / auction / photos.........ill ask Terry that we'd appreciate la Porchetta getting involved with the donation by means of perhaps matching our "efforts" or some % in the dollar - thatll be his call all i can do suggest.

PLEASE !! - now is your chance to to suggest anything else for me to discuss with him in relation to our day there :D

In response to the above "quote" NO date as yet has been decided on & wont be until i speak with Terry - so PLEASE more suggestions on which Sunday would be greatly appreciated. bearing in mind that enough time to to rally the masses and organise merchandise and raffle/auction be taken into consideration. Possibly late June at this stage !?

In the mean time TELL EVERYONE that a CHARITY DRIVE FOR CANCER FOR KIDS IS COMING UP !!

Cheers malcolm :D

    • Thanks folks - I've saved a few links and I'll have to think of potential cable/adapters/buying fittings. First step will be seeing if I can turn the curren abortion of a port into something usable, then get all BSPT'y on it. I did attempt to look at the OEM sender male end to see if it IS tapered because as mentioned you should be able to tell by looking at it... well, I don't know if I can. If I had to guess it looks like *maybe* 0.25 of a mm skinnier at the bottom of the thread compared to where the thread starts. So if it is tapered it's pretty slight - Or all the examples of BSPT vs BSPP are exaggerated for effect in their taper size.
    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
