hey guys

lately iv been noticing a few r32 gtr around with abs removed,

i was wondering is it worth removing, what benefits are gained by removing??? (yes iv searched)

also iv read its wired up inline with the 4wd, so would you remove it with out upsetting the 4wd??

i would also like the ugly thing along with the lines out of my engine bay

No matter what the car is used for.. ABS is your friend!..

The only logical reason i would see for taking the thing out is weight.. even then.. the extra 15kg your going to loose.. you will loose ten fold worse when you lock up and slide off the track/race line..

Would you remove the seatbelts for weight?.. Leave it in.. ESPECIALLY if you drive it on the road.. I would NEVER go back to a non ABS car every again.. not that in the future cars wont come with ABS as standard..

  • 2 weeks later...

I have r32 gts4 and the abs unit was removed by the previous owner, i have no idea why. When i got it, i removed the abs lines, fitted a gtst master cylinder and engine bay brake lines and pulled the abs light from the dash. You still need the abs sensors on the hubs for the 4wd to work correctly.

I dont mind not having it as i have never had an abs car, but after driving a friends gtr in the wet, i would definatly keep it if i did the same car over again.

A compromise is to relocate the abs to the boot if you need space under the bonnet (or a large single terb is cooking the unit). Have seen this done to 2 cars now and speaking with the owners it's not a huge job.

you can rob most of the parts out of some model of z32, they have the abs unit in the rear i think, or all the lines go to the rear first or something, i have a mate that did a similar thing

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
