As the title says, my 1996 ECR33 has been laid to rest.

2 Weeks ago last night i was driving down Kilkenny road when i was cut off by a car speeding out of a side street, i beeped the horn and swerved around the car and as i did so noticed it was packed to the roof with indigenous looking men.

Thinking nothing of it i went and returned DVD's to the video shop further up the road. As i walked out and got back into my car and began to drive away, from what i could tell the same car pulled out behind me, and out got 1 guy who pelted a rock straight into my back window. Left a big dent and a massive crack. I stopped the car and began to get out when the entire car jumped out and began running at me and throwing more rocks at the car, so naturally i thought better get the f*** outta there!

So i took off down the street and had the car behind me chase me up the road for a couple of hundred metres untill they turned off. I then pulled over and checked my rear window, cracked and dented, nothing serious.

Got back in the car and drove up the road, doing 60-65km/h when from what i could tell the same car pulled out infront of me and stopped dead n the middle of a intersection. Instead of hitting the car straight on, i swerved just missing it, most definately saving the passengers life. I then collided with a massive wall, signs, rocks and mounted the car up on a gutter.

The car then sped off and was not seen again.

The damage from what i could see at the time was;

FMIC - buggered along with the front bar, front right fender, front right door, both sideskirts, complete exhaust, rear bar, all 4 rims buggered etc.

Anyway, after 2 weeks of police reports, insurance claims etc...today the car was finally declared a write off. with the damage bill EXCEEDING $18,000 with extensive damage under the car, to the entire suspension assembly & chassis. Over a week off work and a trip to melbourne with my friends & gf did me good.

Unfortunately though, because the other car sped off, the insurance company is hungry for their Excess of $2000, im left to pay that aswell. The police have been in contact with me explaining that they have quite possibly apprehended the occupants of the other car late last Saturday. Co-insidently being at the end of my street where a high speed chase had ended. They are also under investigation at the moment for robbing & bashing a lady on kilkenny road shortly before my accident, and damage to numerous, cars, houses and businesses.

I collected my belonging from her today and replaced the good alpine stereo with a cheap & nasty crim converters special. It has been sad to see her go the way id did, but hey thats life, took me for an awesome ride, and i never once regret buying her!

As for my next car, im most definatley and 100% heading towards either a Series 3 R33 GTR in silver or white or a Stagea!!!

Check the For Sale Thread if you need any stock parts from an R33 GTS-T, which i am selling.

easy on the racism dude.

That does suck man, guess the best thing to come out of it was that you werent seriously hurt. Any chance of hitting up the victims of crime to help pay the excess on insurance or something like that?

Thanks guys,

i can sue them for all their worth, which im sure isn't much. But before i can do that i need proof that it was actually them in the area. The police asked that if they can prove that it was the same guys who went on their rampage in woodville to be the same guys as they arrested, then if i was willing to press charges!

naturally i said hell yes.

Oh...and to top it off. This is the thing that gets me.

Because when i told the police officer that when i took off from these thugs, i did 70-80kmph to get away just untill they had pulled off the street, he though that i hadnt been punished enough loosing my pride & joy, so coinsidently handed me out a expiation notice for admitting to speeding, which apparently is just as good as being caught in the act.

ofcourse that is bullshit, and since my mum is a lawyer ill be getting her assistance in appealing the fine.

man thats pretty messed up

hopefully you can get the victims of crime stuff but i think that dosnt cover lost property only theoropy kind of stuff. but hey the theoropist could be hot so still worth checking out  or trying to claim you use the car as theoropy to get through your problems :D

and yeah take it easy on the racist stuff, wankers come in all different nationality's they should run an olympics for em or something events like the car theft and random attack on strangers

That makes me so f*kn mad, was the 'gang of 49' mentioned at all? Would have been a fairly hectic couple of minutes thats for sure. I would be devastated, sad to see such a nice car get innocently damaged. At least you weren't hurt tho. Best of luck with your next car.

Thats a bugger.. I was speaking to a bloke down at Z-imports before they closed.

He was telling me how ~1year ago or so he had a couple of ethnic dark looking blokes decide they were going to start ramming him for no reason. He managed to get to the police station where they took off and left him but without one last hard ram that bent rear control arms etc..

:(

Apparently the same bloke had a mate that it occurred to up north except the bloke was beat up and car fairly damaged as well.

No doubt stolen cars that they think hey lets ram this prick.

Instead of hitting the car straight on, i swerved just missing it, most definately saving the passengers life. I then collided with a massive wall, signs, rocks and mounted the car up on a gutter.

Should've hit them and that would've been justice.....now they'll just do it again.

Everytime these buggers do this stuff they get braver & braver & think they're invincible.

Good to hear you're OK though.....cars can always be replaced.

You'll get off bud.......you feared for your life and weren't thinking rationally or responsibly

That is quite unbelievable. And I bet even if it is those that were caught, they will be let off with little more than a slap on the wrist and do it again.

Seriously, it is going to get to the stage of vigilanteism sooner or later. It does not bode well for the future, anyhow.

    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
