Hi, Paul Ruzic here. I designed and built the EM PRO II and RaceLogger. I will happily discuss the technical specs of the unit but cannot discuss pricing or availability as per forum rules.

The EM PRO II was originally designed as a stand alone unit, then dirtGarage made the introduction to Ray Hall and the ViPEC ECU. So now if you have a Vi-PEC you can plug it in and reallocate all the normal inputs the EM PRO II already has to other channels expanding its monitoring capability.

The EM PRO II has 5 data used to show details of each individual data channels that are being monitored. Each of the pages can be configured to show up to four input channels at at time. An optional remote input button mounted within easy reach of the driver can be used to scroll between the pages.

Each monitored channel can have a "greater then" and a "less than" value assigned to them. The alarm situation can trigger the warning light / buzzer or both.

The proiority of the alarms can be set so the most important alarms are always at the top.

Up to three alarms can be seen on the screen at once.

The alarms can be set to hold for a minimum time so they are never missed or to not clear until acknowledged.

To ensure oil pressure is maintained through the rev range, the EM PRO II has two additional oil pressue points that are set referenced to RPM.

Without a Vi-PEC you can piggyback signals from the ECU (so far we have done units in cars running Motech, Haltech, Autronic, PowerFC) and also provide addtional sensors for signals ECU's don't usually support such as Oil Pressure, Oil Temp etc. With a Vi-PEC you can still add up to 6 additional channels using extra sensors.

When connected to the Vi-PEC data logging is performed with the Vi-PEC ECU. When stand alone the EM PRO II can be connected to the RaceLogger to add to the logging capabilities of the RaceLogger.

The EM PRO II has external Shift lights / warning lights and a large alarm buzzer for optimim setup for racing. The external page select / alarm acknowledge buttons also allow for driver convienient mounting for racing.

I have to also thank guys like Paul, Darren, Duncan, Mick, Noel, Gervase, Simon, Danh, Cam, Mark, Mitch, Pierce and others (you know who you are) who have supported this product through development and testing.

Thats the quick overview of the unit. I almost have a brochure ready (thanks Cam) which will detail all the information.

I've already purchased a vipec for my r34, so if i purchase one of these EM PRO's does it need an additional oil pressure sensor to get a oil pressure reading (ie it can't use the same one that the stock dash uses?) if not, will a signal from an aftermarket electronic oil pressure gauge such as an apexi etc work instead?

The sensors used by the dash are not usually the best. You can tap into other sensors such as the Apexi as I allow the user to enter any calibration data they want. You just need the calibration data for that particular sensor. If you PM me the sensor details I can check if I already calibration data for it. Else you can get new sensors, which are not very expensive.

Thanks for the reply, i havent bought any gauges yet, thats probably one of the last things i'll get before the build. Any particular electronic gauge brands that you know will work with this dash? Just to keep things neat, if i could get away with running only the one aftermarket sensor that would be good.

It will work with any gauge, you just have to sniff the signal line. The problem is the calibration data.

With the Dash you don't really need gauges as well as all the info is shown on the Dash and if something goes out of range you get an alarm.

Having said that, if you really want a particular gauge I can calibrate the sensor if you send it to me and add the data to a public library for others.

I'm looking into buying one. Can someone clear one thing for me.

1) Can I use the LINK dash with the plug-in board ? Or I have to get a V88?

2) If I go with V88, is there a plug and play adapter for the RBs ? r32 socket ? (they have one for supra)

3) Is it possible to use LINK G4 plug in adapters ? Or the pin out is different ? Haven't looked at that yet. Just and idea.

Anyone else had issues on cold start? twice now after not starting the car for 9 days or so, the idle was quite bad, car would not idle for 30'secs or so. Havent hooked the laptop up to the car when I've done this though. Car idles fine if I drive it every few days.

Just a note for those running an RB25DET or similar , where you get timing off the Primary loop at the ignitor.

I noticed i had to change the offset alot on the G4 to get the timing to the 0 mark when aligning ...... Guilttoy was the same it seems ......

And maps took a fair amount more timing on boost. tried several timing lights to confirm and seemed all good.

However tonight i timed it off the coil directly with a short custom lead i made up for testing coilpacks...... And low and behold it was close to 10 degrees retarded !!

So i retimed off the coil and then pulled same timing out of top end maps......

I guess it wont make a diff to top end power, but low end might if your used to running a certain timing and didnt up it ....

Anyway, for your info........... and for guilttoy to check !

How do you guys hook up the switch for the clutch and what did you use?

factory clutch switch with a 12v feed into it and then into a DI input on the ecu. don't remember which way it works clutch in for 12v or 0v but that's all changeable in the ecu

do you guys tune many HALTECH's? if so we are finalising some sweet tuning aids for it as the STD 2d tuning interface is pretty poor.

So they changed out the AEM for the Vipec now?

Gonzo was raving to me about how good the AEM was. Good testament to the Vipec if they run a faster time. Any ideas what times they've put down?

That was a rhetorical question.

I saw the sticker on the tail, probably shouldn't have put the question mark, but my unforgiving need to be grammatically correct overrides my need to be easy to understand, if that makes sense.

I am aware of his skill, not sure why you pointed that out.

I was merely making a statement that an already impressive car used to run an AEM, now it runs the ViPEC. It will be a good testament to the ViPEC if that car can then do better times as a result.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways. 
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
