Quick question about the optional driver box for the V44 , does it have peak and hold drivers for four injectors in it or is it just a resistor box to limit current if you use low impedance injectors ?

It would be nice if the V44 was available with the 10a peak and hold drivers , can they be a special order that way ?

I can't get into their forum or I'd ask there .

Cheers Adrian .

one little quibble I have with this ecu is the fact you cant select between low/high impedance injectors as you can with many of the other higher end ecu's

are there any explanations for this?

you can with the v88...its only the plug-in boards that have this feature missing.

a solution may be on the cards for this issue

Cool I will look forward to hearing more but for now I'm just going to use a resistor pack.

oh ok good to know!

With the vipec plug in, does it use the V44 boardin your standard casing? also will it support standard GTR injectors, because from what i read, it has some problems with low and high impedance using resistors. because if my afm are buggered im seriously considerign getting on of these, but only if itll run with a stock car once tuned.

Yes, yes, no and yes.

This ecu has been given the honour of being named the "Best ECU" in the latest "Best of the best" High Performance Imports magazine.

The real engine management "leckies" would know for sure but my research leads me to believe that the peak and hold circuitry is different to the saturated system .

PH injectors I believe tend to be low resistance high current ones where saturated ones tend to be high resistance low current .

I've been told the quick dirty method of running high current injectors in a saturated system is to splice in the resistors but you don't have the peak and drop current to snap open and hold the pintle pin like a PH system does .

I did actually speak to Ray Hall and his response is that the V44 is aimed at a price sensitive market segment and I gather to be price competitive had to sacrifice the peak and hold injector drivers and go with the more common trend towards saturated injectors .

Please do NOT make the blind assumption that I'm saying the product is cheap and nasty , the trouble is that so many buy everything on price and if it was made in Xxxxx and sold for $4.99 lots'd buy it .

Something I did read in Honda circles is that someone out there is making good reliable 1000cc saturated injectors and apparently they at times work allegedly better than existing PH ones .

My problem was that getting "affordable" hose barb/tail saturated injectors is not too easy where PH or high current ones are easy and cheap . No good for a wire in V44 though .

My answer could be to use Mazda Rotary turbo O ring injectors and machine shallow rings into them for the short length of rubber fuel hose to bite into under the clamp .

If I could buy a V44 with PH drivers/circuitry I'd do that so Guilt - spill the beans .

Cheers , Adrian .

He can't "spill the beans" but lets just say the Vi-PEC is evolving. This has been deemed necessary to completely separate the product from another one similar. A lot of the Vi-PEC intellectual property will cease to exist on the similar item. The Vi-PEC brand will be regarded as a world leader in ecu technology and needs its own identity to achieve this. I am of the belief that a lot of features are being held back until the evolution is complete.

I already think i may have said too much...enough for now.

Maybe i should wait for it to evolve and then pick it up with all the gucci stuff.

the chipset will be no different...its just a firmware upgrade and new tuning software if you have already have a Vi-PEC.

The whisper is the new tuning software is the ducks nuts.

I really should STFU...lol

You can call it want you want but the vipec engineers are still the same bunch of engineers that work at Link electro systems NZ. Its funny you call it "Vi-PEC intellectual property" but then there was nothing wrong with giving Link an sm4 plus someone elses "intellectual property" data and telling them to pull it apart and do better.

This does mean the worlds leading ecu will still be made and designed by link in NZ with a few wants put into it by vipec. Do you think Link would want their ecu disadvantaged over the vipec "version" This would take a good sum of money to pass into links hand as remember its them doing the building and designing with wants from vipec. Vipec cant and doesn't make ecus !

Also remember there are ecu's out there that make Link g4/vipec ecu's look very very simple and always will, a vipec will never be the "best" or have the best best technology compared to the likes of pectel or life racing ect...

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything
