Hey guys, I have mounted my 044 under the car with a surge tank (hate the smell and noise inside the car) and I have got a fuel pump control module from a GTR to drop the voltage to the pump at idle.

I plan on using the lower idle 7V supply when my AFM output is under 2.5V, will this be ok for the Bosch pump? I guessed since it was ok for the stock GTR pump to run at this voltage then the 044 should to?

The extra current won't heat it up if there is any?

Thanks Sydneykid for the J Car voltage switch idea  using this to switch to earth and supply battery voltage since the Powerfc does not have outputs to the control module i'm told.

Cheers :D

Yep RB30 in a Silvia.

Have a GTR lift pump in the tank. Overkill but I already had it in there..

The External pump was the one that stopped though

Hope the Bosch Pump can run at a lower voltage.. took a bit of work setting it up.

Are you switching the pump to a dirty earth, or its supply voltage (with a few resistors) ??

Can you quickly feed it max juice to see if its a voltage thing, or something else? Not a one way valve hooked up in the wrong orientation? lol.

I thought they'd heat up as well...

Silvia with RB30 single... your crazy btw hahaha.

It is a volt thing. I can change the settings on my voltage switch and ground it to supply battery voltage and it goes fine.

So the wiring is all working, just not enough voltage.

Its regulated via a stock GTR voltage control module. These control 7, 9 and battery voltage via ground.

As for increased current etc etc. It didn't seem hot even when it wasn't pumping but on.. I am no expert with the I=V/R and power output etc..

I guess because the pump is going slower it requires less amps.. so it won't get hot?

If it was a problem, why would this system come out factory in a GTR? :D

Read the voltage/fuel pump thread... the link is in the Forced Induction Guide :)

Should have just gotten decent fuel lines (stops the smell in cabin). I've seen them and they are tops, look cool too!

I have probably read every thread on this board mate :)

I like the tank under the car, would not have it any other way.. and I wanted a varying voltage signal to my external pump so it's not pumping 800hp worth of fuel between the rail and surge tank on idle.. and for the noise.

Im confident at the 9V setting on the module the pump will work, remembering as soon as the car fires up and vacuum is applied to the regulator pressure is released as well as the battery will supply more voltage once the alternator starts working. The 7v feed may yet even work with the car running.. I ran out of time testing it in the weekend :)

Yep RB30 in a Silvia.

i was gonna say!! where the hell did u find room for it

i tried doing that kinda setup in my R32 GTR and i couldnt find any room wat so ever under the car to do some thing like that

RB30 in a silvia??? dam!! any more details on the caR???

wow thats some series respect!!!

did u upgrade the suspension for the heavy front end???

also wat turbo are u using?":?

i still got all the hicas junk under my GTR i just locked it up with a lock bar

Thanks mate.

It has some aftermarket dampers.. nothing amazing but no problems with weight.

Ballbearing Garret turbo. rated for 600HP or so. very responsive..

Remove all that Hicas junk then! bit of weight with all that. ;)

Cheers :P

I have the same pump and setup in my Stagea, and have the pump at the same place, i run with 12v, i am pretty sure, you have to run it with 12v, but at this place, it is very noisy.

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
    • Is this a brand new LSD? if so, have you followed any break/bed in procedure for it? Usually involves heaps of figure 8 patterns, a fluid flush.
