Be careful, some friendly advice a comin' your way

3rd party property insurance does not cover ANY damage to your car, not ever... including fire, theft, coined, egged. You wanna hope you don't meet any roos or have someone back into you in a carpark. If you don't have comprehensive insurance, good luck getting support if you have a "not at fault" accident, it will be just their word against yours and you will be powerless to fight it.

Fcking shit bags that egg and brick cars or key them. I read that 3rd party property should cover you if its their fault like if they ram into the back of your car. So wouldnt it be the same as in a carpark where if they back into your car its their fault ? O unless they run away ! That would suck.

And as for the roos i hope the cull disintegrates them all.

And i hear there is also problems with comprehensive like they will try to not cover you, or only cover part of it and having to pay the excessess and premiums etc.

3rd party property only covers damage you do to other property, it will never cover damage to your property (car) whether you are at fault or not.

haha it just sounds more and more like what i did back when i was 18. I bought the R33 after 'calculating' all the costs and weighing up that i could afford it but there are so many variables that i didn't take into account, the main one being your quality of life (things you can do on the weekends with mates etc.) lowering because you have to pinch pennies to pay for the car and the associated costs. If i could go back i would not buy the car, thats not to say i don't love the car, but i would have done exactly what has been said here time and time again. Hindsight is a bitch

If you're like me though you won't listen to this so just think about whether you are buying the car emotionally or logically. A Toyota Camry will be cheaper to run, cheaper insurance, cheaper parts, cheaper everything really and will also attract a lot less attention (talk to a few people about the 'safety' of some of the uni carparks).

No but the other car that hit you will cover you with their insurance and i read that if the car that hit you wasn't insured the company of insurance can pay up to 20million dollars in damages to your car (from NRMA site) i think they sue they other driver.

Haha my life is wake up 8AM then school then gym then work and come home at 11:30PM and i work on weekends also so no time to spend money with mates. Except holidays.

Seems like everyone regrets buying their car lol. Im worried now whether i should buy the car cause ill have lots of money but nothing to spend it on and ill become a boring person and then end up spending money too wisely rest of my life by buying crappy 1 litre cars.

Sorry... I'm not trying to be difficult here, I'm trying to help - you're not reading the small print correctly. 20 Million? Sounds to me like its is only Liability i.e. personal injury using their Compulsory Third Party (CTP) as part of their registration. This does not cover property damage to your vehicle. In other words "20 million in damages for you breaking your neck", not your car.

If you have Third Party Property insurance, no damage is covered to your car. If the other party is insured, and they're honest people, then you're okay - BUT if they want to get out of paying an excess and higher premiums in future or won't accept fault... well GOOD LUCK with getting your support, because the result will be their insurance company vs one small individual = where can I get the money to fight this in court? oh crap... its cheaper to fix the car myself.

Please talk to NRMA and understand the difference between CTP and TPP. Then for your own sake, compare TPP with Comprehensive.

ive always gone full comprehesive.. even on my camry.. there is the whole 'just incase' factor. it was really worth it when some idiot decided not to look to his left when changing lanes on the parkway. scraches and dents all down the side of the beamer. one call and it sorted it all out.

you might think its cheaper to just get TPP but you cant assume that the accident that you may have is not going to be your fault. im going full comprehensive on my Chaser not because i think im going to crash it, but incase i crash it.. sh!t happens. if someone runs into you in the car park then drives off you arent covered with TTP, same with keying and all the other awesome things that idiots decide to do to someone elses car..

yeah doing all the calculations and what nots great, but now i have started the basics of business at uni, realising i missed a hell of a lot, not to mention calculating fuel lol, zac be sure to come along to the cruises here goods fun they are, that white 34 does look nice,

Lol im talking about TPP. I was saying since if you crash into someone else your TPP covers them like you said, but if they crash into your their TPP should cover you as well, but seems like your saying that they wouldnt cover me. Maybe im also not an honest person ? Nah im kidding.

O and its damage to property like hooses and shit

"Liability cover

If you cause an accident that damages someone else's property, such as their car, building or fence, we'll pay up to $20 million (including GST) for the damage caused by your car, and we'll cover the legal costs involved."

So means if someone else damages my car with their car and they have this 3rd party they should cover me yes no ?

But the uninsured motorist damage is only max 3k lol.

Haha and whats with this comprehensive expensiveness

Annual Amount - $4,945.64

Thats the beauty of being an old fart... it only costs me around $900 with bonus glass protection (any single pane of glass a year can be replaced without impacting NCB with no excess) :D:blush::)

Ill just get my old man to get it and then if i crash ill run out of vehicle and call my dad and get him to replace me as the driver :D Or if im seviourly decapitated then . ;(

What about that justcars or that car enthusiast one that they showed

and then when you get caught you get charged with fraud and slapped with a super happy fun time fine.

If you can't afford the insurance you can't afford the car (shouldn't be preaching that, i didnt have insurance for the first 6 or so months because i couldnt afford it...)

to cover insurence and rego im putting away 130 a fornight, my insurence is 3500 a year adjusted to 2300 (its a just car thing, but theres a shite load of excess if i claim, but i would claim for anything less then it anyways, want to keep good rating) so year need to keep that in mind, i cant wait for next year im going to negotiate a lower price

when i first go the insurence it was another 500 more, when on the phone you really need to be a mixture of firm and nice, and get the person on the phone on your side (like you) do the whole "mate would be able to see if x time driving, or this course etc would get me some cash off" if you play your cards right it will.

im going to shannons at some point this year and talk to them and see if i can get on board with them, normally need to be over 25 or 5 years driving, but im hoping the people there will see that i have restricted leave anyways so only use car in mostly non peak hour, and am responsible or that they are an ex service member and wanna help out one of the boys, fingures crossed.

What kind of insurance would i need if a pedestrian were to run into my moving car and it was his fault running under my car and my car suffers damages. Can you sue the pedestrian ?

But ill guess ill just go with third party and hope i dont cause any accidents or some bum doesnt brick my car, and if they do ill slap them down.

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
