That'd be the accident on Kent Ave, Croydon? I remember that, it was absolutely tragic :( Terrible piece of road in the wet, it was only a matter of time before it happened.

To the thread starter - sorry to hear about your accident but good to hear you're comprehensively insured. It does look like a fair amount of damage.

yes it was.. fortunately the passenger, another mate of mine survived. yes that blind corner is pretty bad. i was at the pole putting flowers up a few days later and while at the pole could just tell by the way cars were taking that bend that it isnt the best stretch to go down.

i now drive like an old grandpa in the wet :bunny:

please take care on the wet roads guys ;)

Thats if it isn't a write off, in a way it would be better to be.

edit: So you n Matt taking me and my gf to midnight cruise or what? :woot:

ahaha nah man, i aint going to the midnight cruise - 5 hours is too long for a drive for me.....

Well i got called up today by just car (they have been really helpful btw) and they told me the car is a write off and the accessor will call me tomorrow to organize payments and stuff i guess.

Written off...geez, If that was an old Valiant or similar you'd get out the black texta, write "ouch" on it and keep driving. Damn mono-coque chassis/shells, they save weight but the can't take a 15kph tap.

Don't forget....quality tyres before anything else, no point in having a nice car that won't turn in wet/greasy conditions.

get a r34 4 door. sorry to hear man. driving in the rain can be scary.the thing i always do is if the road has a overtaking lane go into that because the water runs off them so the right lane will be better with no puddles and a safer drive. thank god i have good tyres i have pirellis (i think thats how you spell it). at least your fine thats the main thing cause cars can be replaced and people cant.

Dude that sucks, hope you get is sorted soon.

My R34 GTR was written off coz some scum people broke into it and damaged it beyond belief

-Brad

Geez! That's exactly what I'm scared of. For a 34 GTR to be a write-off.... they must have done like 60k damage without even starting the engine. What did they do? Burn it?

    • I downloaded the apps (for windows) and Consult 1 doesn't have this function on it for the Consult 1 plug which I'm pretty sure all Skylines have. You would think someone would have a workaround after 30 years for all Skylines which have ABS.
    • Also, I don't know the actual ABS system on the skylines, but a sneaky thing could be a piece of electronic equipment that makes the ABS think you're moving, and then same piece can send a signal for a locked up tyre... Activate ABS without slamming brakes...
    • The team at OBD2 Australia are pretty good, shoot them an email and ask them. I've dealt with them before for work stuff. I'd be shocked if it didn't work, so long as Consult can activate the ABS. But you might need to use KLine for it which would be the stopper, as I don't think that piece does KLine comms.
    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using.
