cut it off at the original position and weld in a bit of flat plate to make it flat the whole way down the side, cut a big hole in the 'front' of the plenum, maybe add a small section of pipe, weld it on again

I have read that this can upset thew flow of air into the engine, the factory manifold is designed to flow air from the side and evenly into the cylinders, when you put the throttle body on the front it will allow too much air into the front cylinders and too little in the rear, so you run rich one end and lean the other... so baisically, do some reaserch before starting :D

I have actually purchased a factory plenum with this mod and fitted it to my car - there is no change in performance (good or bad) that I have noticed if running most stock items. It makes the engine bay look so much cleaner and installing a FMIC means you dont have to cut your fan down either..

good fun sorting out the accelerator cable though

were did u get u get that factory front facing plenum from? n ne pics?

I mean it is the factory style plenum, however someone has already done what VB- said above and gave it the chop and move treatment. I can post a pic when I get home if still want to see..

thanx 4 help,

i got to be careful here cos in other forums i have come across the other way, so dont take ofence ! vb that was d plan just not sure wat u do bout the coolant lines running thro throttle bodie ? do u just blok off ?

and travo no better throttle response ? thats really the only reason i want to do it.

Actually yes - throttle response, very good increase from about 60km+ (thats best place i noticed it and the reason i did it... god how i forget that?)

Coolant line is not needed if you move the TB up the front of the plenum. just disconnect and join the coolant lines together. I'll throw a pick up of mine shortly.

Theres a company in the uk that do this conversion, most people i`ve spoken to have said you get better gains that a greddy style plenum, mainly in bottom end torque i think. I can`t find the pictures on there website, but if you google image search thor plenum rb25 there`s a few pics

here http://images.google.co.uk/images?ndsp=18&...tart=0&sa=N

hope this helps

um, I've seen a few stock plenums converted into front facing, but that one is amazing... perfect job...

so when are you getting a new plenum...?

so what are you doing with this one? *hint, hint*

cause that one really looks good...

Heres 3 pleniums ive made all have worked very well first one was with the standard tb and the other two i used XE falcoon tb's, my car is making 287rwkw on 13psi on stock rb25 turbo bottom end with 9.5 comp, with the plenium in the last two pics, also using the XE/XF tb you can remove the standard idle air control and use the air bypass in the throttle body, i will be making more of the pleniums in the first two pics for mates as they work well and cut out about 1.5 m of cooler piping

Hey Mikka33

All you have to do is remove the standard idle air control, just disconnect the wiring, plate up the holes and your ready to rock and roll, dont wory about the wiring you unplug, it doesnt have anything to do with the ecu

Hey Venom, can you elaborate on the sentence above?

Currenlty have the FORWARD FACING set up with standard throttle body but looking to change to xe/xf

Cheers..

weld it onto the intake pipe coming from the outlet from the fmic to the throttle body..

*note this was on a fmic, with the typical setup with the pipe coming through the driver side guard to the plenum. this allows the bov to be hidden from plain sight.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
