Like some of you I would love to have some thing nice like them high end simulators but I can't so I built my own and created a manual to get you started in building your own simulator. If any of you would like check it out go to my web page and take a look. It was easy and I built it in 2 days.

Building Your Own Racing Simulator

You do know that the Seat Cover don't come with it? that is an extra $59.95 + $185 = 244.95 + S&H = $??.?? so I see it coming to around $280 or more.

Look at these they will come out to the same price http://www.racergamer.com/?gclid=CL-z2ezm-JMCFQRJFQodMFU5Ww

The only thing I don't like is no place to put my PC and monitor, I know you are using it for a PS3 so it my do you fine.

both.... :)

GTR2 and LFS i do on the PC..

but PC and PS3 near the TV (i got Media center PC which has all the games and thats hidden behind the TV stand)

i think i can come up with a soluiton to Seat problem (home grown solution)..

do you know any place that sells Ausi version of the play seat.. the american site you mentioned is a bit too coastly when you factor in bloody postage...Aus

"both....

GTR2 and LFS i do on the PC.."

You like the F1 racing? you have see rFactor for PC? if not look into it its a kool Sim

"i think i can come up with a soluiton to Seat problem (home grown solution).."

LOL OK

Not now but I will see what I can come up with.

after looking for sometime now, this is my list..

Financially viable ones that want break your bank,

http://www.simworx.com.au/catalog/item/3694360/3313045.htm - Australia, still too expensive for average Joe like myself.

http://www.gamerscockpit.com.au/cockpit_details - again very nice, i prefer the simworx but too expensive for me

http://www.thegamingcollection.com.au/Pages/playseats.html - only place in australia place to buy the playseat, still too expensive for me. (does not pass the wife test mate !!!!!)

http://www.hyperdrive.com.au/products.aspx?catid= - my choice, australian product, bare essestionls but cheap.

Last option is to do it yourself -

I am going halfway, buying hyperdrive for 184, using it for while and maybe adding proper race seat and getting driving position a bit higher.

there all pretty much crappy looking to be honest.. very much indeed. including the the one repoman made. why dont you put a bit of effort into it and make your own? i have made one.. and about to make another. I have two wheels.. the logitech driving force pro.. and the g25. on the pro i have a gear lever, handbrake, i have alpine bass engines, i run racing harnesess.. its a complete setup.. way better than these other gimmics... build your own.. simple.

"i run racing harnesess.." are you going to fall out?

No one was asking if you liked them maclarenf1 was looking for a affordable simulator but we thank you for your wonderful post. I did make my own and I like it very much I did not make it to empress you and I have sold 31 plans to date and get thank you emails.

Good Day

thats cool, you like your design, but it dosent say race car layout too me. selling plans to make money from it.. thats an idea. I run harnesess for the authentic feel.. its a race seat simmulator correct? besides i have bass engines in my seat to replicate engine noise car damage etc.. so the harnesses help with the feel of those too. and you must agreee.. most of the commerical ones are pretty flimsy and doesnt provide a authentic feel.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
