Does anybody know how Nissan parts treat older stock?

I am trying to get a few parts for my 240k, and i have been told that some of them should still be available from nissan.

I have an old Parts manual which gives me a part number such as 96935-R3700 (rubber gear boot insulator) I spoke to a relatively new nissan spares dealer and they said their nissan warehouse program did not recognise the part number, he tried 5 other part numbers for various parts too.

Does anybody have any insider knowledge in how i should be going about chasing up these parts? or if there are any dealers around willing to go through the pain of tracking down old bits.. or are they just not available after a certain time period (ie. they dump their old stock)

Kent, Try Hornsby Nissan, or try talking to Dave at Macarthur Nissan Spare Parts, they are very helpful for me, they can tell you straight up if it exists or is obsolete or it supersedes to something else. Do you have a picture or dimensions or both, maybe we can compare the R30 bits to it.

Cheers, D

if you want I can try and look up the part in FAST. I need a VIN# and description of the part I am looking for. But on first glance the part# looks same format to current part numbers.

You could also try contacting slide or similar on the forums and see if they can source the part in japan

Hi Duncan,

thanks, but the FAST software doesn't go back to the 70's (unless you have one which does, in which case i would be greatly interested :( )

i have the physical parts manual for the car which lists the numbers, but i am not sure how nissan would advertise the superceded numbers etc.

I spend several hours looking for 70's datsun parts per week. Repco/bursons can get very basic stuff (think wheel cylinders, gasket kits etc), and that's about it. Nissan dealers have generally sucked in my experience, they seem to have a deep-seated loathing of anything more than a ten years old. I'd be combing ebay and importmonster, and join a club like the Nissan Datsun Sports Owner's Club. I can get my mitts on some second-hand 240k bits. PM me if you get really stuck, and Ill see what's in the shed for you.

I work at a nissan dealership, there are still manuals with all the parts and numbers (and crash repair catalouges) for pretty much every australian delivered datsun, including the old skylines. also can try nissan FAST, im pretty certain I saw the c210 and c110 on there last time i looked.

whether or not you can find any of the parts in stock somewhere is another thing.

    • Yes I can see how that would put you off HFM, especially with the price of good quality brake fluid. From what I understand it as you say the BM50 is the standard BMC for a R32 GTR, I must admit I would like to go far a Genuine Nissan BM57, but lack of cash prevents that at present. With the price being so close between the genuine BM50 and BM57 a BM57 New it seems a better choice as you gain that 1/16 bore size with the BM57, I would be interested in how much difference you feel with the BM57 fitted. I am going to take SteveL's advice in the short term and see how much actually comes out of that proportioning valve vent and save up for the Genuine Nissan part. Thanks for clarifying the HFM failure
    • Thanks mate. I just got the post inspection 1/2 done from state roads when the starter motor packed up, either that or the car alarm system is having trouble.  OEM part number 23300-AA112.
    • Hi, I though I was coming to an end in finding a replacement starter motor for a rb25de neo. I came across a starter motor from Taarks and a message below stating: Direct fit. 11 Tooth count. All below part numbers have been superseded to 11 teeth. Can some body shed some light on going from 8 teeth to 11 teeth apart from 36-month / 25,000 km warranty for passenger vehicles to 12 Month Warranty. Compatible with the following Nissan part numbers: 23300-20P00 23300-20P01 23300-20P05 23300-20P10 23300-20P11 23300-AA111 23300-AA112 23300-AA300 23300-08U10 23300-08U11 23300-08U15
    • Low battery? Maybe check capacity? I know first-hand, on BMWs if your battery drops below 80% capacity, it starts causing strange issues.
    • 8.5 +37 = should fit rear, but I think it'll hit on front. What you want is low 30s/high 20's front, mid 30's rear. That 17" screenshot you posted looks good, I'd run it on my R32 (but that's long dead now). For tyre sizes, my rule of thumb is: 8': 235, 9": 255. But that's just my opinion. Nismo sizes: 18x8.5+35/18x9.5+38 is a good starting point.
