I'm currently running Pod filter, 3" exhaust, large front mounted intercooler, manual bleed valve for boost pressure 12psi and after market ecu Wolf V500. Still using the standard turbo but had to replace fuel pump as it was leaning out, I'm making exactly 200RWKW though Auto trans.

i have pretty much the same but tuned stock ecu made 201 rwkw through auto in r33 sedan

:)

so jimmy,. where are u going to post pics of that new white baby of yours so we can ooer at it :) you gotta come over and show me since u only 3 streets away lol

haha its sitting in my drive :D ill go out and take a photo to include in this post.

For all of us who have insurance through people like just car ect.. shop around guys.

i was shopping for insurance, 2.8 was my quote. im 21 had one licence suspension and iv only had my licence a year... never had an accident or any claims and never had insurance so im probably near the bottom of the rating scale. after shopping around i found an insurance place named Famous who quoted fully comprehensive for 1512. I drive a stock 96 hr33 which is in mint condition. i noticed just car was going to insure a 93 hr33 for me for 2.5 so it might be the year of my car.

car looks great, il have to come over and have a look int eh flesh, well the metal lol , i bet you havent stopped smiling yet :) finally got ya liner

  • 3 months later...

for my first year - 18years old, clean record, stock 1998 ltd edition R33 manual, with wheels exhaust stereo suspension = $2800 a year

second year - 19years old (), still clean record :D, same as above = $1800 for the year :(:):)

insurance is totally worth it, i got rearended with only 3rd party in my ford laser by an uninsured driver and small claims court is not fun and i never got most of the money, not risking my line

and in regards to mods, I am having this all done in the next few days, all installed professionally and quality parts

dump pipe $350

HDi frontmount (good one) $1100

fuel pump $320

fuel regulator + gauge $300

HDi electronic dual stage boost controller + gauge $420

1 hour on dyno = $160

total = $2650

yes i know i could have done it a lot cheaper and if the car was a pig i would have done all the work myself but its a near perfect engine in a near perfect car I would rather it all done properly first time (and save myself a few weekends)

just as a guide for anyone thinking of getting stuff done

got a 89 Honda legend under my name atm with RACQ, they wouldnt insure me for new car, so i phoned Just cars. $1275 A year on a turbo r34 skyline, they also put me on a rating 2 :) on my opens and I skipped all that P plate crap, but its pritty much the same amount my dad was paying on his with a rating 1, 2 or so years ago so im stoked. I have been driving for 5/6 years or so.

    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
