Good Brakes?

Hi all,

Its time to replace my front and rear pads and disks,

so the big question is, what would be the best ones to go with?

the car is my daily, but i do a few track days in a year. so i would probrably go with slotted disks with decent pads.

im also toying with the idea of braded line as well.

any thoughts?

Brembos buddy!

Get them off a R34 GTR if not a Ferrari F40.

That be my first choice.

Then there is other options like Endless, AP Racing, K Sport and Project Mu make some good brake pads and calipers.

As had been suggested a number of times the list of things to do are:

Don't use DBA 4000 series rotors, find something else. I would suggest Project Mu as they are getting more & more competitive on price.

A decent pad is a Ferodo DS2500. Get them from a proper brake shop & not somewhere like Repco who will just fk you about and confuse themselves. There are a number of other pads sabout which may suit you. Front set is $300 approx.

Get some new fluid. Motul RBF 660 is good/cheap(ish).

Braided lines will help wil pedal feel but aren't strictly necessary. Make sure you get ADR compliant ones. What will help is a master cylinder stopper. Cusco do a nice one.

Lastly the Brembo callipers fitted to Skyline are poverty pack rubbish & in no way worth the kinds of money people ask for them. That is by way of general comment.

Im listening in Matt, im also looking for things to do to improve teh brakes...

But im thinking Sandown is prob the worst on brakes, apart from that what ive got is good...

oh yeah, ive got the RDA Slotted and Dimpled.

How big are your rims?

Could go bigger rotor and get adaptor brackets to suit the nissan caliper. Several companies do them. Global in Japan, or local places. Someone on SAU was at one stage. Have heard this is better than the brembos....True the factory brembos aren't the same as their aftermarket goodies, but hell they look cool and work a treat.

Many people spend thousands on a complete brake overhaul but never do something that is cheap and simple - COOLING. Spend a weekend and make up some cooling ducts for your front brakes, it will make a nice difference and cost you hardly anything.

I agree with djr81 in that the skyline brembo's aren't like the racing brembo performance they are the povo pack street car standard and aren't worth what people constantly ask for them (not to mention they are a good 10-15yrs old).

im running P1 buddy club 17 inch rims, so there is plenty of space there.

i think i may make up some cooling ducts for sure.

and i was thinking about getting the RDA slotted and dimpled disks after seeing yours on the weekend mat,

The R32 GTR has front brake ducts from factory, if you don't have any just buy them.
