hey guys i got a ppg straight cut dogbox and using the redline lightweight shockproof in it at the moment, im finding when its cold it drives smooth as but once warm it tends to crunch abit even when driving it hard, its a very very new box so shouldnt be anything wear and tear related i hope, im thinking either the oil is wrong type and getting too thin when hot? 1st to 2nd when giving it a boot full is a big cruncher too i cant stop it :)

any info appreciated

You have a dog box and your worried about it crunching? Am i missing something here?

Maybe he's referring to a straight cut gearset (ie. first 3 gears replaced).

unique1 are you referring to a dog box or straight cut gearset?

:Dave here:

Thats just the way they are. id be using a heavier oil. ie heavy shock proof. thats what i use.

1st to 2nd is always harsh, you will need to revise your driving style .

the oil is nice and thick so the gears slow down quicker till everything heats up.

they are a pain to rev match. just practice dude.

yes its a ppg 1st to 5th straight cut dogbox, i know they arnt a smooth ride but i was just curious as to why it was perfectly smooth when cold but worse when warmed up. Thanks Dave, i just wanted to make sure its nuthin bad and im causing more damage, ill swap the oil over asap and see how it goes, i can get it to drive smooth as without any crunching except the 1st to 2nd shift :) if i go slow 1st to 2nd its fine but when revving it right out it crunches bad.

im definately getting the hang of it now i dont mind driving it at all even around the streets its fine and just has abit of a whine too it that gets on ya nerves sometimes lol
