Andrew's car with P-plates??

Yeh, I couldnt be bothered doing your rims, altho that kit look pretty cool John! My favourite out of all of them would be my last one, with the black top, and red stripe seperating it all. The HOONY graphics are cool, but not the best for the cops :/

What have you decided Andrew?

went to the painter today...

have got two quotes and am undecided on what to do...

BLACK BONNET/BOOTLID/RIMS and CF MIRRORS

white everything else...

OR

BLACK BONNET/BOOTLID/RIMS/ROOF and CF MIRRORS

white everything else, thing is... the top half of my car will be black from above the door handle onwards... so the rear fenders, doors, front fenders will all have a bit of black paint on them... black will run from all the way back near the tail-lights all the way to the headlights...

they will be divided by a red vinyl pinstripe...

SO... anyone with ideas as to which one of the two i should take?

much appreciated, and Rhys...

i was wearing P Plates when i just got my licence back, only wore them for about a month or so lol

Do the bonnet and boot black, leave the mirrors cf and if your not sure bout the roof get a black vinil that covers the roof and pillars. . seen that done a few times. . then if you dont like it you can just peel it off. . i doubt it would cost too much either

Red pinstripe? What about silver or blue?? Doing a vinyl on the pillars would be an easy cover for the moment...

was that at me??? if so id do say blue pinstripe or even a bright green stripe with silver outline

heaps hard decision to make as painting the roof was only quoted an extra $400 for me seeing as though i'm doing everything else to the car...

vinyl is not a bad idea at all, hhrrmm...

have two weeks to make a decision, i'm sure i'll figure something out by then but please keep the comments coming!

Andrew

lol TJ... i have no $$$ for CF boot and bonnet...

was thinking about it but i need to use $$$ for my respray where my car got into the fight with the pole...

only one CF boot i can source right now and that alone costs more than my kit...

later on it will be planned but right now i have to stay with spraying as it's even cheaper than buying the CF parts

cheers buddy!

Cancel that, I've tun ouy of ideas. Plus after working 8am-4pm at one job, then 5pm-1am at another... and not going home in between, I'm stuffed!! Gotta be back at work at 9am 2moro morning as well. I'll have another go tomorrow afternoon for you Andrew

Have you considered the mat black option colour for your car? depends on costing however.

From what I am hearing the matt black colour is meant to be quite popular in the auto salon scene and not too many are doing it now (some of them still obsessed with lambo orange and scissor doors)

Also what engine mods do you have?

Is this your first show? If not what progressions in your car have you gone through since last show as the boys tend to look for that at judging. If it is your first show stick with the low and fat theme, JDM spec etc as that always seems to blend in well.

I remember the first show was not to win but to at least get my car to the same standards as others. Your car looks nice and i think the wheels that you are looking at go well with the car.

Just keep in mind engine mods, looks are great but negative comments i used to hear on cars that had a lot of cosmetics done but no engine work done outweighed the good comments unfortunately.

I quick hint, for the cost of maybe $500 get someone to polish your engine bay, then remove the hood, although no major mods are done it still looks nice and has people wondering if anything has been done :-)

Oh and let your bank know you are going into the car shows, all of a sudden they become your best friend!!?? Probably due to the money that you end up spending.

Anyways, I DONT KNOW EVERYTHING about car shows but i can try and help where necessary :-)

Also if a big guy wants to take a pic of your car and he has a very expensive camera and introduces himself as TJ, cover your crutch or at least make sure your zip is done up.

In all honesty TJ takes some great pics so try and get some of the girls near your car, some of the mags like it when the girls are near your car, you can pretty much have a POS Herbie the love bug, but whack a few promo girls wearing next to nothing near it, take a pic and *WHAM* next thing you know your car is on the cover of the next auto salon mag :-)

Does this work for stock NA Skylines? Cos I'm kinda embarrised with the lack of mods under my bonnet... still has the stock air box :)

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
