a tow bar will look okay, the roof racks will make me look like a mid life crisis family guy :D

Hmm - I seem to recall that roofracks can be removed when not in use, and towbars are there to stay???

I have Thule roofracks on my car (for carrying the bike) and it looks pretty cool with them on - and pretty cool with them off.

For getting bookcases home from Ikea in a hurry - nothing beats roofracks on a GTR :)

I have towbar on my R33GTS25T, I had it custom made by Carasel at Moorebank. It was about $350 fitted and wired.

I pulled a car trailer to and from Melbourne without problems (1400kgs on way back) even though the bar is rated at 1000kgs.

I do have a slight contact between one exhaust bracket on LHS of muffler but have had time to have it reshaped. My taillightparkers no longer work on the combination switch but work from foglight switch, I suspect the additional load from the trailer lights may have fried the combination switch so relays may be need if you want to tow rather than carry a bike.

Jamezilla,

I still can't believe you did that to a GTR... you were telling me about it on the GOR cruise, but I though you were pulling my d!ck!

That's insane... doesn't the GF have something with folding seats like a Barina or a Mazda or something?

Damn man... I know it looks OK, but IT'S A GTR!!!

Jamezilla - you promised me those pics AAGGGESS ago!! :D:)

hmmm.. i am still debating whether to get racks or a towbar on my 'R.

However, Nissan Oz sell towbar kits for $295 (apprently the same as 200SX's fit all R33's except the 4dr.)

Christian

phorj: Haha - I have the Lada still which has a proper tow-bar (and I have a bike carrier) - but it's much nicer driving the Nissan. And as you saw - they come off :)

TimmyG: $295 brand new from Roof Carrier Systems (Aus Thule distributor). Bike carriers are $110 each.

Prank: Sorry Christian. I thought I had posted them :D Will take a shot next time I have the bike on there

Get the racks - more practical, and can be easily removed (about 5mins). GTR with mountain-bikes on top looks tough

Mind you - same price for either - I guess it depends if you need to actually 'tow' anything rather than just carry bikes/snowboards/modular furniture :)

Tony: Haha - yeah. That's why I like having one on the Lada.

    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
