Hey guys n gals,

Its getting to that time where I need more of a comfy daily driver, and be that comfy it can be used for long drives and weekends away - my R31 is getting a bit on for me now and the r33 is not comfy at all haha (plus the 33 is more the club track car!)

So, looking to purchase 95 - 97 maxima

What do I need to look out for?

I know the basics as when looking at any used car to buy, but in this case, is there anything with the maxima's?

Being a 3.0L FWD....anything to pay attention to up front end?

Anyone own one?

good?

bad?

Im thinking maxima as Im a Nissan man....build quality is much better than equivalent falcadores, Ive had a magna before...not my thing....

Dicuss!!

Cheers,

Chris

We're on our third one as our family daily and i tell you straight up. i wouldnt swap it for quids.

An excitement machine it most certainly is not but it excels at what it was built for. Relaxed, quiet comfy cruising. In this department it puts some more expensive rivals in the shade. It doesnt lack for overtaking punch either.

Problems to date. one recall for a dodgey door lock. one warranty replacement fuel pump.

Negatives. The only one that comes to mind is the rake of the seat riser in relation to the headrest. The rest is too far back to be used as such.

Best damn bang for buck family sedan sedan I ever owned by far. If i tried to sell it off the old girl would knife me in my sleep.

p.s. Just take it somewhere else besides the dodgey bastards at nissan for service work.

Cheers Noel!

The one Im looking at has 157k on the clock and has all the options!

Thats exactly what Im after :P

the r31 was good for not standing out - but I need something with better options like the maxima!

Cheers for the reply mate,

Cheers,

Hi!

My mother (bless her heart is 82 yrs old) still has hers from new. Its a GV '96 which has done only 56000Km Genuine!

Only trouble is; my son and I who both own GTRs will need to convince her to sell it. It is Sydney based.

Now about your Q.

i) it won't brake as well as your track car

ii) all Maxima GVs have leather but if left in the sun, it can go hard and very dry

iii) they have great torque but on take-off can suffer torque steer

iv) they don't need to be serviced till each 10,000Km and have platinum plugs

v) it won't corner as well as your car

vi) it should be relitively quiet on the road

vii) electrics/electronics are usually perfect

viii) it can run on std ULP with fuel consumptn about 10.5l/100Km

ix) very light steering (variable ratio)

x) probably need better rear sound speakers but sunroof (dual control) is delightful

Hey mate!

hahaha in comparison to my r33 - thats what I want, something cruisy, comfy, with all the extra's!

Well, my old man is looking at one for me on saturday as I'll be at Wakefeild, but if you get her to sell it, pm me price and location etc!!!
