Hi Guys,

I recently purchased 2 brand new R34 RB26 N1 Nur motors. These are the top of the line factory built RB26s you can buy and were fitted to the R34 N1 Nur editions. Both the engines I had dissambled from brand new at Prime Garage in japan and rebuilt with some even more upgraded parts. So I have the following bits for sale. They are all brand new and were removed from the crate motors without either motor ever doing a single revolution.

I have:

2 X full sets of RB26 N1 valve springs, these are a good idea if you are installing cams into your R32 or R33 RB26. nothing worse than old valve springs. a mechanic here in sydney recently tested these N1 springs against a set of tomei type A springs and tells me they are virtually identical. Price is $290 per set of 24. $10 postage for most of Aus. bargain valve spring upgrade.

2 X Brand new genuine Nissan timing belts. again, never been used, and genuine is always a good choice if you are doing a big service or cam upgrade on your RB26. The timing belt I understand also fits RB20 and RB25. Price = $100 each. $5 postage for most of Aus.

2 X sets of N1 cams. These are known as a great mild cam upgrade for use with turbos like N1s, garrett -5s and -7s and HKS GTSS or 2530. They have higher lift and longer duration than regular RB26 cams. Being genuine they are also better quality than some of the cheaper aftermarket options. These are direct bolt in to R34 RB26 but please check with your mechanic about fitting them to R32 and R33 RB26 (they may fit, or you may require the use of an R34 CAS). Price is $400 a pair postage I estimate at $25 for most of aus. Bargain cam upgrade! Many cluey workshops have been using N1 cams with good success for years now.

That's it for the moment. Pics to follow tomorrow or saturday.

Hey Richie,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the 34N1 (Nur) cams are same lift, duration. L.C. as standard R34.

The R32/33 N1's had the exhaust L.C. retarded 5 degs but the lobes were the same.

However, they are still one of the best cam choices for RB26.

cheers.

thanks benno. :) I have never measured them, just going by what I was told in japan, and by a few workshops here. if they are the same it's weird as there is one workshop here in sydney who swears by "N1 cams". lol, he buys, and fits them and tells me they work very well with small turbos. in fact up to that point I had always thought they were the same too, but he convinced me.

edit: ahh, ok, just did some research. they are different to regular R32 and R33 cams. so still a good change for 32 or 33 RB26s and with some cam gears would be nice. but you are right, 34 GTR and 34 GTR N1 use the same cams. so no point for any 34 owners to buy them really. They can be used in RB20 too, but I have seen some pretty mixed results from RB20 with GTR cams.

anyway, considering all that, make the cams $350 a pair.

1 set of valve springs sold.

ok, price updates.

timing belts now $90 + $5 postage

Cams $360 inc postage

btw, 1 set of cams sold, 1 set of springs sold.

  • 3 weeks later...

sorry mate, no engines. :ermm:

price drop on the gear left.

R34 N1 valve springs $250 for a set, brand new.

R34 N1 cams, $250 a set brand new. good if you want to get a regrind, you can start with brand new cams.

Genuine nissan RB26/20/25 timing belts brand new, $80.

  • 2 months later...

Still got most of this stuff. completely forgot I had it till I tripped over the box. :P.

so to sumarise.

1 X Brand new R34 GTR N1 Nur Valve springs $250 for full in and ex set.

2 X Brand new R34 GTR N1 Nur Cams (in and ex). these can be cheaply reground into whatever you want and if going regrind it's good to start with brand new camshafts. note, to use on 32 or 33 I believe you need a 34 type CAS or some modding. check with your trusty mechanic. $250 per pair

2 X Brand new genuine Nissan RB timing belts, suit RB20, RB25 and RB26. perfect if you are nearing the 100,000km mark, or a good time to swap if you are fitting adjustable cam gears. these are top quality. :( $80 each. that is a bargain!

I have moved house now guys and this gear is clogging up the joint. do me a favour and buy something. :)

Hello Richard,

Those Valve springs fit a GTR33?

Have to ask.....even though I am 99%.

PM me if they do.

Thanks

Tekin..

Oh...can you build me an engine and send it too :bunny:

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
