luke, do you know if your craig can get cheap rotors? might see you on the weekend anyway if you down at the workshop :stupid:

oh and if i could afford or at least justify me spending anymore cash on my stupid car then id go project MU HC+ again. they lasted the longest for a mix of street and track work between the 4 or 5 different break pads i used

were they too dusty and/or aggressive on your rotors Kye?

they made abit of sound under light braking and heavy braking and didnt cause nearly as much dust as bendix ultimates do.

i was using them on r33 gtr brakes and nearly new rotors on a track hack s13 and i didnt need to change the rotors in a 1 1/2 of driving track and street. and when the car popped i ended up selling the brake setup and the guy used them for a fair while after too.

so im going to say no they werent very nasty on the rotors and even when they were cold they still pulled up nice. they were worth the extra bit of coin :stupid:

I'm also going to say give TWR Lucas pads a go, damn cheap at around $60 per end and damn good performance. Takes around 5-6 hot laps for any hint of brake fade, and even then, I'm fairly sure it was fluid fade, and not the pads. They did seem to wear fairly fast though, were from brand new to a few mm in just 30 laps. :)

Trying QFM pads next. Rated to 780deg with cold friction of 0.40 and hot friction of 0.48, so not too bad at all.

Hey salad, I'd be keen to get some feedback on the QFM pads which appear to be the 'A1RM' going by your specs......ie. dusty, noise, fade, rotor wear, bite factor.

my brakes are standard but my pads are endless

ive noticed they dont realli start working the best untill they are hot

im also using endless brake fluid and to tell u the truth i dont see any difference in the endless fluid to ur normal of the shelf dot 4 brake fluid

I would rather you dig up an old relevant thread, than start a new one (like most people), so well done.

I recommend QFM pads and plenty of people here do too. Good performance, great price and basically dust free. The HPX are for normal road use, and the A1RM are for track, but wear out quicker since they are softer.

even with my ability to turn almost any kind of brake pad into piles of molten nothing, im still a pretty big fan of qfm.

great bang for buck, they take some pretty solid amounts of abuse before they quit.

For track only; I found the new Project Mu "Club Racer" pads were pretty good on my last outing.........not very dusty, didn't experience any fade, and relatively quiet for a track pad.

As far as rotor wear goes, not sure yet but they seemed to be reasonable.

There's always gonna be a give & take situation when using a track pad. Going by personal experience, the best working pad will tend to be a little harsher on rotors than a street pad.

EDIT: You're not gonna run a track pad on the street anyway (change them back to the street pads after every meet) so I'm a big fan of these babies so far.

I reccomend the QFM pad,

I am running the A1RM and its great, got good bite from cold which is really surprising and they just get better with a bit of heat into them.

haven't tracked the car with the pads so i can't say personally what they're gonna be like on the track? but i got a 32 GTR with 34 Brembo's

the car pulls up fast!

i prefer Endless pads - because they don't disintegrate into molten nothing. then again, Dave hasn't had a go at them yet :lol:

QFM A1RM on my 33, used to get fade on the stock pads but these have held up fine. Fronts lasted approx 7 months, wheels get quiet dusty, car stops up great and if you install them properly noise is minimal (taper edges, some goo on the back)

Think I paid about $120 per set (front/rear) from GSL Rally Sport and will probably use them again.

Running Bendix ultimate now an there nearly shagged worked okay no fade on short track sprints, but soooooooooo Dusty as everyone has already said.

Personally my rotors needed machining when I put the pads on, which I didn't do. Now after 7 months ~15,000km they are ready for replacing. Since they were no good to begin with I can't really comment on wear.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again? 
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
