This year fatz and I had a hell of a time and are commited to attending the next one. Ticket prices are as follows:

2004 GP ADVANTAGE TICKET PRICES

(incl GST)

Jones Grandstand $579

Brabham Grandstand $579

Fangio Grandstand $429

Prost Grandstand $429

Moss Grandstand $389

Senna Grandstand $389

Schumacher Grandstand $389

Clark Grandstand $349

Waite Grandstand $349

General admission price for all 4 days are $165, however from experience you are alot better off in the grandstands.

I was thinking of Senna stand as $389 is pretty reasonable however speak up if you think elsewise.

Also, if tickets are purchased before the 31st October 2003 you qualify for GP advantage:

GP Advantage Benefits as follows:

Exclusive access to the GP Advantage Bar

My experience was the opposite re the stands, my dad had a couple of seats and they were shit. It was on the outside of turn 1 with sand trap directly in front of you, it was too high off the ground and too far back from the track. My mate and I got a much better rush from wandering around and standing near the fences watching the cars pass a few feet away (which we spent most of the weekend doing).

Guess it depends on the stand?

I'm keen to head down for another one but too early for me to be planning it, I'll decide closer to the time and just bail down the coast avoiding speeding fines and get general admission. The atmosphere is enough :(

I am interested as just in the last few days a mate of my i was planning on going down to Melb with for the GP has had to pull out already. Would also be good fun id say with some fellow F1/skyline fans.

I have been to the last 2 Indys on the gold coast, General admission in 01' and grandstand in 02'. My experience was it was worth the extra money for the Grandstand because you always have somewhere to just sit and watch, if it undercover it is especially handy in bad weather (as i found out last year at indy). With just the general admission you can find some good little spots but you ussually have to battle with about 150,000 other people to get them. It can also be quite hard to follow a race with general admission if you have no big screen in view.

Does anyone remember Mark Skaife rolling his R32 GTR at the adelaide F1 gp in the very early 90's. those were the days, rolling GTRs and Senna racing F1.

provided you got king kong balls.

I'll be driving down again but I may go down early in the week to visit some friends. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday. View map of the circuit and then pick which one you want

Duncan, turn 1 stands are expensive (Jones and Brabham). I'll wait and in the next few weeks which ever stand has the most nominations will get the nod. I'm pretty much flexable on which ever stand but don't want to force everyone to fork out too much money.

ok, so who paid attention at previous au grands prix? where does the overtaking action happen. or doesn't it?

As for the stands, I'll go with the group, but if you've got 6 months to save, $200 difference shouldnt really break the bank, should it?

I mean, just save $10 per week for 20 weeks, or if we had say 6 or 8 ppl chip in and get a 3-4 room apartment we'd save that much easy

I'm down for an apartment. Just hope people can forgive me for my behaviour when I've sucked too much of grandpa's medicine. But then again, missus will be there next year so I have to be on my best behaviour.

I be interested in comming. I've been before (not this year, the one before - webbers first race :D )

From my (limited) experience there, I had grandstand tickets (Schumacher stand) but I decided I wanted to be at the first turn for the start. I watched the start (BIG crash) and some of the race from the first turn, general admission, and the rest from my seat. I proimmised myself that next time, if I'm going to blow $300 odd on crappy stand tickets, I may as well go the extra $200 and get the best (turn 1 - Jones or Brabham) seats available, I mean, it only comes once a year, and belive me, it's worth every cent.

I'm also defo in for flying down. It's less than $200 return and takes a matter of hours.

Duncan, all the overtaking happens at the first turn, on lap one :P

Richard (F1 nut)

Looking at the map, Brabham is better cause you have a huge monitor in front of you. Jones stand, it's a little to far to see the monitor in front and have to look to the left to see the closest one (and the action is top the right).

I'll make a call sometime next week.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
