What should have been a 20 min job turned into a 3 hour epic tonight - I can't get the wheel to sit straight.

It's a Nardi Classic wheel and HKB boss kit.

I've changed wheels over before on previous cars but never had this issue.

I aligned the TOP marking on the boss to the score mark on the top of the steering shaft.

You can't really tell when stationary but when the car is rolling on a straight level road wheel naturally sits very slightly off center, say ~10 degrees. If I force the wheel to point straight the car will slowly veer to the left.

Tried ignoring the top marking and adjusting to suit but the angle from center was even worse.

Could this be an alignment issue or have I missed something out?

Same thing happened to me dude when I put a HKB boss kit on. Standard steering wheel was perfect then became off centre when i put the boss kit on. Since i was so careful through out this whole process i actually think it was a manufacturing fault of the boss. But at the end of all this yes an alignment will fix this issue (had it rectified myself only yesterday)

Cheers

easiest way to fix this is in the engine bay. undo the two 10/12 mm bolts on the coupling between the steering wheel shaft and the rack. put it wherever you want

ta-da

yes its the easiest but how do you know if the rack was on centre and and and....

the only way to do it - is, centre the rack, pull the wheel, put it staight, then get a alignment.

bollocks,

heat the shaft with an oxy, then you can straighten the wheel, then chuck water on the shaft to cool it down....

though seriously, install the wheel, get a wheel alignment. You will have a bit more lock one way than the other which you probably won't notice anyway.

    • I used to have Walbro 255's when they were a pretty common update. (or were they 044? 040?) In any case I had a dirty tank. I thought the tank was good, but I would find the filter would clog in maybe ~50km of driving. If the issue persists, well, your fuel system or tank has crap in it that the pump is sucking up.
    • Hi. Ok thanks for the info. I/we do not know what tune is on that Nistune ECU so it is why there is stock ECU and that Nistune is for later when the car is done. I have guy who tunes Nistune and other ECU so i will then take it to him to see and properly tune for the car   And for the update. On 99,9% it is bad fuel pump. Which is wierd cuz it is like 2 years old(brand new walbro 255) and that filter (also brand new) was dirty.  I was alwaya pumped premium(100) on very good petrol station so i dont know how is that possible...
    • Dear folks My family members have 4 different cars : Triton 2015 and Corolla 2011 and Mazda3 2012 and Hyundai Elantra 2014 Looking to buy engine oil funnel spill free What I found are are below  https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BBTTJNKX?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image&th=1 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145553221359?srsltid=AfmBOoqYBU6Ptw0LU_bAp_k67U3qkF97HHvePkA7iHZw8vUmiwoIRaRr https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09X23TCS5?th=1 Is there a funnel with attachment that fits most cars ? Don't mind to spend for a decent quality  Thx
    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
