Good work Beau.. Nice drifting.

Btw...its called "Tall Poppy Syndrome"....People will alway despise what they cant have or achieve.

Keep it up champ.

Except everyone who has posted in this thread thus far has, had, or is finishing something that looks considerably better… And to be honest not many want to achieve a written off car look.

This car has gone from a beautifully presented R32 to something that looks like it’s been written off and fixed on the cheap.

This is Aaron beaus mate! I knew the previous owner and know all the garage hiramatsu boys! This car in the previous shots was hot yes....but NOT drifted! If you want a show car go to autosalon you want a race car thats driven hard everyday and pushed to its limits then it will not stay beautiful for long unless its got factory backing!

I am currently working at a D1 workshop in japan and can promise you d1 cars are also not flawless in apperance but they go like the clappers....Please dont be judgmental and a bit harsh unjustifily! He isnt claming its a show car but a drift car! He f**king painted it himself and had a go at doing it and learning to paint! How many people can say they have a go at doing things themselfs...

He had a go at changing front ends himself because it hasnt really been done in aus and wanted to be different so dont bag him, this was a thred about him drifting in a drift round at QR! I dont remember seeing you there so please either post about his drifting or leave this thred alone!

Look at the old pics that were taken.....all still shots in a frigging car park! His are 3rd or 4th gear slides...

You're probably right.

BTW, Great drifting Beau!

Pity the car you're in looks shit

Autosalon is such a typical “Drifters” reply. With my involvement in motor sport through friends, family and the odd event myself, I have never seen “alleged” racecars so poorly prepared. It’s like it’s a badge of honor to have a damaged car or something, the kids on secret drift all froth over it...

I'll tell all the guys at the next Porsche car club meeting all their club cars must be factory backed or something as they don’t look shit.

No argument Beau can slide the car; he seems to do pretty well. But his mentioned money, there lack of to finish the car maybe if it was prepared better he’d be picking up more sponsors on his driving merits.. When someone from DA came begging for some form of sponsorship (they wanted a free product) from my dad, the first thing we looked at was the cars presentation..

all the cars at the track days i've attended (timed events, ie grip racing) are neatly prepared, seems just drift it's cool or acceptable to have shit hanging off the car everywhere :)

edit: about the cars that get drifted looking shit after a while, thats because a lot do half assed body mods when they install their sick widebody fibreglass kit and don't extend the wheel tub to the new guard with a piece of metal like you should to stop tyres ripping your guards off,.

X2. I get a kick out of wandering pit lane and looking at the detail some people go to in presenting their track cars.

I do the same at the qr friday night drift sessions and i can not believe the dodginess i see.

All i can assume is they have no respect for themselves if that is the public persona they are prepared to present.

In a sport where contact (wall, other vehicle, whatever) is highly likely, it makes sense not to worry too much about appearances. That said, a tidy drift car shows a certain amount of confidence in your abilities and those of your peers... Beau is pretty handy behind the wheel and I'm sure the car will be tidied up in due time.

But anyway... nice effort in the comp mate, good luck with the next one!

I wasnt taking a shot at beau Marc. I,ve seen him in action. He's pretty damn good.

Some of the crap i see out there is not a bit rough, its downright dodgey.

Exactly. Everything in this thread has been in-relation to car(s) not driver/drivers

I'd like to see it look like before, and drifting 4th gear!

kenoath.

anyway, good work, we all have to get in and have a go. it does look a molested.

I have already said that I agree it looks dodgy , I never realy got to see it out in the sun on track till this comp , now that I have I will fix it up , I had a go at painting myself and fitting a 34 front on , and I failed . I will fix it up when I get back from Japan in a month or two .

P.S I will post up some pics of my S14 I have over here , once I get it on track at Ebisu or up one of the mountains.

P.P.S I would have keep it as a 32 GTR drifter , but there are now 4 R32 4 door GTR fronted drifters in QLD , and I wanted some thing a little different , and I got rid of the work VS wheels , as selling them I was able to buy 8 work miester wheels , so that I never have mismached wheels.

  • 2 weeks later...

the old front is all sold , I have decided to just cover my bad paint with graphics and jap stickers , cheapper then getting a re-spary , will try to lower the wing a bit more and get canards for the front bar.

P.S Nizmo boy what does your Dad do so I can hit him up for sponsership ?

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
