Impressive the yanks can now build car which actually handles quite well and has a lot of power to boot. I dare say though that the GTR could have driven home without a pit stop at the servo, where as the vette probably was running on fumes by the time it reached the front gate on the burger ring track.

lol you dolt. I bet you that corvette probably gets better fuel economy than the GTR.

The new 6 litre v8 we get here is more fuel efficent than most shitty skylines out there.

whats the top speed of the new gtr?

cause the vette got near 3 hundred befor he changed into 6th? wtf why do they need to go so fast?

maybe to make up for there lack of conering ability.

but they have still made a car with a lot more power and a lot less weight. win win

if you look at the other cars on that list above the skyline is a underpowered very heavy attempt at a supercar.

I'd be curious to know if both cars left from a standing start, there'd be 3 seconds difference right there.

Credit where it's due, GM are building some cars that handle pretty nicely, and that lap was a pretty awesome effort from that driver. Looks like a lot of fun to drive.

apparently the r33 gtr v spec hits the torque split more aggressive than the r32 and the aerodynamics was improved!

the zr1 is impressive, it shows the old style of a good chassis front engine rear wheel drive is always gonna be the best balance! although it's beaten the gtr but i don't feel like the best has been brought out of the gtr from watching all the videos of it! the zr1 out of all the american cars is a great cornering machine because the corvette had european influences, the person who designed the platform was a british fellow

hopefully we see a dog fight between these 2 cars in the future! it'll be like old school engineering vs technology! oh and i also read a thread about the ceo of honda saying the nsx has to be faster than the gtr, would love to see that as well

Definitely gutsy.. :D Would be really good to see the same driver in both cars as it looked like the vette was pushed just so much harder but maybe its just the combination of rwd + more power. :(

yeah me too, just like the R35 & Zonda video.....at least then you get to see where and when the Vette starts to really pull away.

I like some of those figures Damo........under 4 sec 0-100kph, massive brakes, massive rubber, much lighter car and a blower too!!

I'd like the R35 for weekends and the Vette as my daily please :D

Both cars will be awesome in the new gran turismo haha :D

Yeah Corvette is a very impressive machine! 19x10 and 20x12 standard rims :( plenty of grip and stop, and plenty of go! I wonder what suspension its running.

just answering my own question:

Ride control

The name of the ride control system is Magnetic Selective Ride Control (MSRC). MSRC is provided by Delphi. The system uses two modes of control: Tour and Sport.

The system offers standing start launch modifications. When launching the ZR1 from a standing start, the shocks are completely softened on launch and stiffened on rebound. The softened shocks on launch aid the ZR1 by allowing the center of gravity to shift. The ride control standing launch modifications are designed to minimize bounce.

oh another thing i realised about the differences of the gtr and vette! imagine a tuning battle of both cars? which one would have more potential to go further?

If an american company using suspension design from 70 years ago can beat the japanese using 21st century technology it just makes me lol.

And that corvette looks a lot more fun to drive than the skyline.

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
